Rating: Summary: Sub-par quality Review: I have to say - I'm pretty unimpressed with this mouse. I made the mistake of buying it from a store without first checking its reviews here. Two major complaints: - Its bulky with the batteries. I have used a microsoft optical mouse (with wires) at work, and this one feels like three to four times heavier. - The movement is clumsy: for example, while playing solitaire, the cursor moves to the close-button on its own. Its pretty annoying even for day-to-day work.I'm no microsoft basher, but this product falls well below their standards. I've used their trackball intellimouse as well as optical wheel mouse, and both were fantastic. Some reviewers here have written stuff like - it works fine if you dont use it on reflective surfaces like polished wood. Hello! you mean I should not use it on almost any computer rack? And why is it that only cordless optical mice have this 'feature'. I could use the optical wheel mouse on the same surface without ANY problems. There are a number of folks who switched to this mouse from a corded-trackball mouse. Of course they are going to love it! Optical mice are way better than trackball ones. So if you're one of them, upgrade to a corded-optical mouse, and you'll be very happy. Thankfully the store had a 30-day return policy. I returned it after just two days. I'm trying an optical intellimouse next...
Rating: Summary: Could be better. Review: I've had this mouse for quite awhile now, and the thing that bothers me most about it, is the fact that I need to replace the batteries about once to twice a month! Depending on how much I'm using it. And also, getting the batteries in and out is a pain..I don't know how microsoft could have missed that specific problem when they were testing it. I guess its pretty much worth its price because most wireless mice are a lot more. So for the most part i'm happy with it because I don't want to spend more than 30 dollars for a mouse.
Rating: Summary: forget it Review: Pointer jumps off screen constantly - major problem. If you like gaming - don't get this mouse. If you like frustration - this thing is perfect for you. Can this mouse really be called a "precision pointing device" when the pointer disppears every few minutes? I think not. I was much happier with the Microsoft corded Optical Intellimouse, which only cost me 1/2 as much as this.
Rating: Summary: Cheap, with one minor installation problem Review: Wireless is definitely the way to go. I've been looking for a cheap way to get into the wireless arena and fortunately they decided to drop the price a bit on the MS Wireless Mouse Blue. Ergonomically, it feels decent enough, and seems to be made of decent, durable material. It glides smoothly with nary a hiccup onscreen (except when first waking up). The batteries are a little difficult to install; one needs to be almost jammed in for it to go in the slot. Installation took me two hours though: I plugged it into my laptop's PS/2 port and, after installing Intellipoint 4.1, and after several tries of the install it refused to recognize that I had a wireless, optical mouse (no scroll wheel, etc.). Apparently, the touchpad driver of my laptop was linked to the PS/2 port (which, I was to find, was exclusively for connecting an extra keyboard). Plugging it into the USB port solved the problem with detection. Oh, also Intellipoint refused to install itself after I updated the touchpad drivers. So I had to uninstall the touchpad drivers so IP wouldn't complain, install IP 4.1, then reinstall the touchpad drivers AFTER so IP wouldn't notice. It's been running fine with no conflicts whatsoever. Everyone's happy, and so am I. It took me two hours to get happy, but it happened.
Rating: Summary: A review about the mouse, not your computer's problems Review: I got this mouse about two months ago. I love it, especially because I can use it anywhere without that annoying cord getting all tangled up everywhere. I have had absolutely no problems with response time, excessive weight, or any of the other things that pop up in some of the reviews around here. And, let me add, if there's one thing I hate, it's when some nerd comes along and rakes a product over the coals simply because it "didn't install correctly" or "the computer crashes every time I use it," or "it never worked." What they never seem to realize is that these are problems with THEIR COMPUTER, not the hardware or software under consideration. (I might add, as a footnote, that I have a standard Win98 system, and had no problems whatsoever running it off of the USB connection.) The only complaint is battery life. Perhaps the batteries that came with it are just cheap, but the mouse it already starting to get a little jumpy (after two months). I can put up with it, thanks to the cordlessness, because when it gets jumpy I just move it on top of my desk, closer to the receiver, and it works fine. It's not jumpy all the time. And I have found that where I keep it on my keyboard tray, about 4 feet from the receiver, works fine when the batteries are OK. The only occasions when it gets jumpy at that distance is if something on the desk is positioned just right so it obstructs it. I'm not sure exactly how that works, but it is rarely a problem. Just pick up the mouse, move it somewhere else, and continue your work. So, overall this is a great mouse. Relatively short battery life (which is understood with most cordless devices) is no excuse not to make your life much more convenient with this handy little gadget.
Rating: Summary: I use this mouse Review: This mouse works great for me. I hated to have that wire in my way all the time. The only problem is that you have to have batteries so I use rechargeable ones.
Rating: Summary: Give it a try Review: I have this mouse now for about a week and i have no problem until now. First days are great, It jumped the first time i used but that is because i use a notebook, which is not hard and flat as a pad, so i fixed that problem. now its been a week and i have a problem with my left button. Sometimes my click wont go thru, I need to click several times just to make it work. I thought the mouse was doomed and my 30 bucks are doomed too. I replace the batteries though and its back to its original healthy form. I just hope it wont have the same problem again, that scared me! It still make its screeching noises, not so good for what they call ergonomic design what so ever. Another thing i hate is the jumbo receiver which is as big as a mouse too. Like having two mouse instead of one. Microsoft needs to fix this problem. overall i give it an average rating since i really like the way the scrolling works. so give it a try, if u dont like it then return, just dont throw the box and barcode.
Rating: Summary: Nice Review: Have owned the Wireless Optical Mouse Blue for a few months. This mouse replaced my Microsoft Wireless Mouse because the ball was collecting every piece of dust from the desk...and the desk is pretty clean. The Mouse is small, comfortable, not too many buttons, and no wire or ball. It does cause the pointer to jump a bit when moving at a fast rate, but this never causes me not to be able to click on what I want. The battery life is the same as many other wireless mice I have used...even though the light stays on when the computer is shut down. I plugged it in, did not install any of the software, and it has been working fine ever since. Just have to keep within range of the reciever, but it still works where I cant read what is on the monitor. My rating may be a little generous because I always found the wire on the mouse annoying, and I may be willing to put up with a little barely noticeable imperfections. Overall, I like the mouse.
Rating: Summary: 2 mice for the price of 1? Review: I bought this mouse because I have been using Microsoft mice since the mid-90's. I've moved from ball-mouse to scroll-wheel mouse to optical mouse -- they're ergonomically shaped and they all performed flawlessly even without installing the included drivers. Alas, not so with the wireless versions. Although the ergonomics are still there, the performance leaves a lot to be desired. The first one I brought home died after a week -- I thought the batteries ran out but replacing with fresh Duracells didn't help. The compartment for batteries is poorly designed, making inserting and especially removing batteries a chore. The door of the battery compartment is difficult to pop open. The second mouse? Well, it's the one I exchanged. But I could've easily mistaken the transceiver (being the same size) for the mouse itself! Other mouse manufacturers have shrunk the size of their transceiver down to that of a USB dongle. Why can't Microsoft with its proclaimed innovation do better? Now for the worst part... Even with the installed driver, the pointer-tracking lags behind your wrist movement. For some reason, it is not as responsive as its wired cousin. When viewing large documents (long Web page or MS Word document), the mouse becomes totally lethargic -- often not moving at all and requiring many clicks to activate a button or scrollbar. Since I can't return it because the box has been opened, I'm basically stuck with it. Good thing I haven't given away my corded version. Recommendation: if you like Microsoft mice because of their ergonomical shape, stay with the corded version of optical mouse -- Microsoft hasn't quite figured out wireless technology.
