Rating: Summary: Just not well made... Review: Let's dispense with the 'wow' factor stuff. It's pretty cool that this mouse lets you move the cursor by moving the mouse around in the air. In this mode, the mouse is accurate and reliable. If you're looking for a presentation device it's great, specially if you want to stand in front of the screen and use it like a laser pointer or something. The thing of it is, the mouse is not really a very good mouse. It's strangely shaped. It's even a little strange when you're holding it as a presentation pointer, but sitting on the desk, in "optical" mode, it's borderline absurd. Also, if you are thinking you'll use it while kicking back in your chair at home, you're mistaken. You can sit a long way away from your computer and guide the mouse around fly-by-wire like, but once you set the mouse DOWN, it flips to OPTICAL MODE, so if you set it on your lap or on the floor or whatever, and movement will change the cursor position. Neat. Now, the worst part -- the keyboard. What a joke. Sure, it has a long range. Otherwise, it's got really crummy response. The larger keys, like the spacebar, are especially sticky and slow to respond. The keys are mushy, hard to push and imprecise. Actually though, while the keyboard is the worse "part" the worst thing this suite does is lose it's connection to the base every few hours. Not only that, but when this happens, the keyboard spazzes out, and can't be reeled in from the thicket without actually REMOVING THE BATTERIES. Fantastic. Then the whole suite has to be re-initialized with the whole "learn" -> "teach" thing. One more thing to note is that a lot of the bases for these units have been recalled, so you will probably have to send your base back and wait a week for a new one. The good news is that the company seems quite responsive and good at customer service. The gyroscopic thing is a neat idea -- too bad it's used in such cheap equipment. If you want a presentation device, just get the mouse. The keyboard is throw-away. PROS: Neat-o Gyroscopic mouse provides hours of gee-wiz gawking. CONS: Everything else. Shape of mouse, feel of keyboard, mechanics of wireless transmission. Just get the mouse.
Rating: Summary: Great Mouse until it died, then Gyration made me sad!! Review: Agreed with the other review for about 47 days. At that point the mouse stopped responding and Gyration never has responded. Tried emailing them - they asked when and where I bought it but never responded to my answer. Their non 800 phone service is a bottomless pit. Never did get to talk to anyone even after waiting up to a half hour.
Rating: Summary: Works for me Review: I have been using the ultra keyboard and mouse for quite awhile. I gave one as a gift to a friend as well. Both of us really enjoy the function of the keyboard, mouse and the base. I use the "in the air" mouse when I am kicked back, otherwise I find it to be optically responsive. I can move the keyboard to the side for occaisional key strokes as I study in the center of the desk. My friend uses the set in a similar manner. No problems with ours to date.
Rating: Summary: Pretty nice so far Review: I just bought it a couple days ago and so far I am happy. Maybe i'll update this in a few more days but hopefully not. I do have one glitch with it thought but can live with it. The pointer has frozen with no mouse response until I figured out to put it on the charge cradle for a sec and then try and is ok. Or i also hit the learn button whe it freezes and the is ok too. I'm not complaining yet as I've had it 3 days and it's done it twice. If it continues, though, then it's time to update this review. Anyone else have this problem?
Rating: Summary: Great Idea Review: I loved the mouse but could not get the keyboard to function properly. I exchanged the first unit for a new one and both worked great, for 10 days. No response from Gyration via e-mail so I called the Tech line (a toll call as they do not offer an 800 or 888 number). After waitng for more than 30 minutes I was told they would ship a new receiver to me in three to five business days. It's been 23 and I'm still waiting.
Rating: Summary: Works great for me! Review: I've gotten this for a Chrismas present last year and after 9 weeks it's still working strong (no special setup, worked right out of the box...the mouse did charge overnight before using it). I'm usually about 15' away from the PC (it's hooked up to the TV in the living room),the receiver is not in line of sight, and so far it's never been a problem. The PC is also running a wireless Logitech Wingman gamepad and a wireless network without any problems. It sucks that some people had problems but for me the setup worked 100% from day 1.
Rating: Summary: GREAT!! Review: This is great. It works for Apple and Windows computers. The range is also great. I would expect interference with other itemson my computer considering that I have wireless networking but it works perfect and it also doesn't interfere with my joystick which ia wireless. THe only bad thing is that the mouse has tocharge for 9 hours before using it.
