I bought this for my new Mac a few months ago, and was a little nervous about installing it, but it worked like a charm. Just opened up the side door and slipped it in - make sure it is seated firmly. I downloaded the instructions from the Apple site, but it was really very easy. I did this before I turned the Mac on for the first time. It recognized it right away and I have never had any trouble with it at all.
