Summary: Big improvement over serial
Review: Easy to install & use -- works just like you would hope it would. Writing 5.5 MB (80 files) from a 120 MHz W95 PC took about 5.5 minutes. On a 366 MHz NT machine, the same data took 3 minutes to read and 4.5 minutes to write.

The 5.5 MB on hard disk occupied 6.2 MB on Flash, but I doubt that has anything to do with the FlashPath disk.

The documentation says the DDFLSPTH1-AD supports SmartMedia cards up to 128MB, not just 32MB. Installs from a CD now.

Summary: Does what I expected
Review: I bought this to supplement my USB card reader when away from home,or when I loan my camera.I didn't expect it to be as fast...and it isn't.Still very portable and works well.Only one problem to report,it doesn't want to read from the media card(Olympus)that came with my camera. It will read just fine from all my Delkin cards. Can't comment on any other brand of card.

Summary: Convenience but not always usable, read-on please........
Review: I thought this item was the savior of my extensive SmartMedia use. I thought this Floppy Adapter could be used on *any* computer, but you need to install the drivers for this Flashpath adapter first. That is the part that majorly [wasn't good]. Also, you can't install the Flashpath Adapter drivers on a computer that has more than one CPU.

I have a computer at home that is a dual-processor system, but I could not install the drivers on my machine!

But despite the driver incompatibility, the flashpath adapter had a quick transfer rate, that is, versus a serial communication download.

Great item for on the go between work and home, when downloading smartmedia files to your computer.

Review: Im biased towards this product because I really like SMDK (SmartDisk's ticker symbol). If you decide to buy this excellent adapter which SMDK has the exclusive on, buy a couple shares of it as well, and it will pay for itself.

The flashpash works fine in my NT machine. opens those smartmedia cards just like floppies,

Although not its primary intended use, I use it to back up a couple important files, and have them on a little smartmedia card - kind of like James Bond. It nice to have an hour of good music on a square guitar pick.

The usb smartmedia reader works faster, but the flashpath is a really cool concept, and they are more compatible- everyone has a floppy drive, right?

I wouldn't recommend [the Flashpath adapter] if you have a laptop with an external floppy- it might not work in it.

And you might want to pick up a couple of the little batteries, because heavy tranfers eventually eat the little watch batteries up.
