Summary: Looks Good ---- Doesn't work well...............
Review: I had high hopes for this reader. The specs are great, and the look, feel, and quality are high. This is a nice package. Unfortunately, for the first time in the last 3 or 4 years that I've been using CF cards and all sorts of readers, THIS reader would only recognize 2 out of 6 of my CF cards. It did recognize my one Memory Stick I had.(I'm running XP, by the way.) Going to the Sandisk site and using their instructions for uninstalling/reinstalling the drivers (which involves editing your Registry!) didn't change a thing. I was extremely disappointed, and have returned the unit for a refund. I'm looking now for another brand's USB 2.0 reader to replace it.

Summary: Great Little Device!
Review: I am running XP Pro and the installation went smoothly with no problems. The only confussion I had was determining which drive letter went to which slot. Once I figured how the drive letters where assigned, I renamed the drives to match the media used (i.e. Smartmedia) to reduce any confussion.

Summary: Unreliable Product, Never worked!!!
Review: I bought one for the different types of flash memory cards that I have. The product arrived and I had a heck of time getting to work. After reading some suggestions from the Sandisk website, I was only able to get the memory stick slot to work. the Indicator light never came on for the other slots. So I had it exchanged for a second one. And the same things happened. Very displeased with this product. Because of this experience, I'd give a second thought to ever buy Sandisk's products.

Summary: Won't read one of my 5 compact flash cards!
Review: This is a great unit that is well built and fun to use, however it won't read one of my 128 mb PNY compact flash cards. It reads all of my other compact flash cards and two different brands of secure digital cards with no problems. My old reader works just fine on all of my compact flash cards. I bought this so that I wouldn't have to have two readers on my desk for two different types of media. I have a new 512 mb CF on order and I am wondering if this unit will read it. I will probably return this unit and try something else. I didn't read these reviews before I bought this. I will next time.

Summary: Way cool
Review: This device is sooooooo fast, I wonder how I lived without it. Of course you should use it with USB 2.0. Anyway, it looks cool, and works great. The only thing is that the USB cable is too short, but that's not too bad.

Summary: had problems with Win2000
Review: I bought this product (SanDisk ImageMate 6 in 1 USB 2.0) as an upgrade -- I had an Imation FlashGo USB 1.1. The first time I plugged it and installed the drivers, it showed up as 4 separate drives -- which was good. Unfortunately, it has failed to be detected after that first time.

I thought perhaps the unit was defective and so I had it exchanged. The 2nd unit also couldn't be detected, so I uninstalled and re-installed the drivers -- still nothing. I installed SP3 (I had Win2000 with SP2 previously) and even that didn't get it to be detected.

Fortunately I still have my Imation FlashGo, and that works every single time it's plugged in -- it gets detected right away! Go figure. Looks like I'll have to keep my Imation unit until there's a better brand that comes along with a USB 2.0 version. SanDisk sure doesn't cut it for me.

An update to the above review...I finally bought an Imation FlashGO! 2.0 -- great device, worked the first time it was plugged in, and everytime thereafter. It's much more compact and lighter that the SanDisk unit. Comes with a vinyl pouch (case) and would fit most shirt pockets. Ideal for use with laptops and not too bulky to carry around.

Summary: Simple Device? Not for a 256 MB Card
Review: I've been using computers for over 2 decades -- you'd think I could get this stupid thing to work right. The 6-in-1 reader could read my 16 MB Toshiba SD card and my 8 MB SanDisk SmartMedia card -- but not my new SanDisk 256 MB SD card. (The card worked fine w/ my digital camera, mind you).

So, 3 calls to tech support later, I find out the real problem. Call #1 had me disable and remove Norton Antivirus. That didn't do the trick (and I knew it wouldn't but I had to to get to the 'real' cause). Call #2 had me buy a self-powered USB hub, since they claimed Dell computers have inadequate power supplies for the USB ports. Something I thought rather bizarre since the reader lit up and was able to read the other cards. Call #3 revealed the potential 'real' problem... The tech support rep told me they're working on a driver update for the device. Apparantly, these devices are having a hard time reading higher capacity cards. My solution? Return it to Amazon.com for a new one. Maybe the newer device will have the updated driver. Which, frankly, is total nonsense. One device shipped within a week or two of the other will have the updated driver? Even though there's no update on the website? Whatever. The device is great, but be forewarned if you intend to read higher capacity cards.

Summary: Does not read other CF brands
Review: Too bad I did not see other reviews here first. I purchased this only to find out it does not see my Viking 256MB CF card. Sandisk tech support wants me to keep checking their website to see if problem has been resolved. To date, not yet.

Summary: Know yourself
Review: Unfortunately, the SanDisk reader is very inconstant is it's ability to recognize all forms of cards. I've only been able to get it to read a SanDisk 256mb SD card once. As a matter of fact the only device which does not consistently read the SanDisk 256mb SD card is the SanDisk 6-in-1 reader. Compact Flash Cards seem to be the sweet spot with my reader. Best results are seen with CF cards. When it reader is working the transferring of files is quick. I'm running WinXP Pro and have installed all the updates. Purchase at your own risk.
