Summary: Take advantage of your CF Card's full potential!

This device works MUCH faster than connecting your camera directly to the laptop. For that reason alone its worth the price, but there's more...

I use this to allow me to take unlimited pictures when I'm on a trip. Fill up my CF card, copy all the images to the laptop, delete all the images from the CF card and start taking pictures again. When the card is full, I repeat the process - unlimited pictures! Why buy a larger capacity CF card when you can get this adapter for much less?

Another thing: Images from a camera are just computer files. I've used this adapter to turn my 32 MB compact flash card into a "disk drive". Once you put this CF card and adapter into the laptop's card slot, it shows up just like any other "disk drive".

So you can put the CF card/adapter in your home or offece desktop computer's card reader, use Windows Explorer to copy files (Word documents, spreadsheets, image files, or whatever) to the card, take the CF card out and move it over to the laptop - using this adapter. It makes the compact flash card act just like a high capacity disk drive! You can bring files home from work the same way, and the CF card fits in your wallet...

Summary: Laptop Adapter good value
Review: Adapter works fine -- laptop is 5 years old, but everything worked fine. Good price at Amazon.

Summary: Must have accessory.
Review: As other have already noted, the product just works. On a XP laptop, pop the adapter (with the CF card inserted) into an open PC card slot and the CD card shows up as a disk drive. No drivers needed. Simply read and write as you would any other disk.

If you camera uses CF cards and you have a laptop this is once thing to always have on hand. Finally, the build quality and reliability are superb.

Summary: Outstanding device-truly plug and play
Review: Came well packaged (but with NIL documentation) in static proof sleave. Placed the reader into the PC card slot (NEC Versa LXi)and slipped in the CF card-the reader and card were instantly recognised in WIN98SE. Great plug and play functionality-the only downside is that you have to remove the reader to remove the CF card-but no great inconvenience when compared to the reader's ease of use and the doing away with the cables of the usual USB CF reader.

Highly recommended product...

Summary: Inexpensive and still fantastic
Review: CF readers with USB cords? Why bother? Say goodbye to those bothersome cords! This CF adapter is the answer to keeping your portable computer PORTABLE. One little adapter allows you to plug in your Compact Flash cards for quick and easy reading. I bought this item when I purchased my latest digital camera and it has been a blessing! It's so simple to use, light-weight, compact -- and incredibly inexpensive! How simple? Plug your CF card in one end, plug the adapter with card into the appropriate slot in your laptop and the computer is ready to read and write to the CF card just like it was another drive. How sweet is that?

Summary: Poor Design
Review: Good Price, but poorly designed. In most PC Card slots, you won't be able to remove the CF card from the drive with your fingers -- the drive seeds itself too deep into the slot. Therefore, you have to eject the drive to get the card out -- very inconvenient.

Summary: maybe a mistake?
Review: I buy this item but isn't of the picture, instead it reads:
'Viking 56K CompactFlash Modem Adapter'
I buy too a 64 Mb of compact flash and try it to connect to my Toshiba 2805-S202, it installed fine, didn't do anything, I can't access to it.
Anyone know how to use a 'Viking 56K CompactFlash Modem Adapter' as a hard disk? is the same thing?

Summary: Flash Card Adapter
Review: I just baught the Canon digital s100 camera and needed this adapter to transfer pictures to my laptop (which runs Win NT 4.0 and won't recognize USB).

The card works great, even with different types of CompactFlash memory.
