Summary: Nifty little bugger
Review: I have two Digicams... one for me and one for my son. Each take different memory cards. This little unit reads them both.There was virtually no set-up. I plugged it into my XP computer and it detected new hardware. That was IT! Now I have two more "drives" that show up in my Explorer window and I can read and delete just like any other drive. VERY COOL and VERY worth the money. Saves on having to use my camera battery to upload the pictures... and WAY faster! Get one!!! Oh ya... I would have given it 5 stars, but it has a short cord... what's up with that? My CPU is on the floor and the short cord won't let it reach my desktop ... but I just put it on top of the CPU instead.

Review: I Instaled this at home, and it's not compatible with windows XP, it crash my windows system, and in the support page from simple tech there is not a good solution for this problem.

Summary: Great way to download pictures
Review: I installed a 4-port USB port in the front of my computer and this is the perfect accesory to have for a digital camera. Instead of having to fiddle with any cables from the camera, I simply take the memory card from the camera and insert it into the reader, Presto! It couldn't be any simpler than that!! Anyone who has a digital camera should have one of these!

Summary: Didn't Work For Us
Review: I ordered this card reader along with an Olympus E-20N camera from Amazon as part of a necessary upgrade to meet a professional deadline. Shipping was very fast on both.
The card reader did not work after three attempts to install the software (even though the papers with it say it's very simple). We have an 8-month old Dell computer running Windows ME, we're fairly up to date, front USB port and all, but the computer just kept asking for a disk to be inserted in the drive. (The computer sees the reader as another drive.)
Customer support was useless, when we called we had two options- leave a message (and you know how that goes), or push the live body button. Since there was a time element involved, we tried to use the live body option, which immediately sent us to the voice messaging. And an announcement that the voice messaging bin was full.
The other option was sending an email on their site, and again, you know how that goes. I couldn't wait from 24 hours to maybe never.
I had no more time to fiddle with the thing, my deadline was already too close to be comfortable. The card reader was junked and I bought another brand locally.
Mine may have been a defective unit, but I'm not at all impressed and won't buy this brand again.

Summary: Good Product
Review: I purchased this product because of its combination input. If you follow the instructions (which tell you to load the drivers BEFORE plugging in the unit), it is extremely easy to install. I used the latest driver from SimpleTech's web site - just did a site search on "Flashlink UCS-200 driver" and found the driver. Never even needed to load the CD included with the reader. Note that some of the links on their site lead to missing pages - just be persistent and keep trying other links in the list.
I have a 450 MHz Pentium machine with Windows 98 (first edition), and after loading the new driver, I plugged in the reader to the USB port and it recognized both drives (slots) immediately. Allows hot-swapping (no computer power-down/up required) of either the reader or the cards. Very convenient.
It's worth the extra bucks it costs to get two readers in one package.

Summary: Not for use with Multi-Media Cards
Review: I purchased this with my Kodak DX3215 camera (which I love) because the tech support staff at Amazon assured me that it would work with multi-media card too. It does not. So the good people at Amazon Customer Support (I love them) promptly sent me a return ticket for it. Pity, though. I had called tech support just so that Amazon could be spared the expense of just such an event. And guess what? It turns out that I don't even need a media reader at all, because that's what the DX3215's docking station does beautifully for me anyway. However, I do agree that you should buy this if your digital camera lacks its own docking base, because its a great time saver.

Summary: Check the model rev. if you use OS X
Review: Just some advice if you're an OS X user thinking of purchasing this product: (FlashLink UCS-200 is discontinued) which is not compatible with OS X. The currently shipping UCS-200 model *is* compatible with OS X; be sure to check which model you're ordering. I gave it a 3-star rating even though I can't use it (unless I reboot into OS 9, which is too much of a pain to bother with), only because I'm required to give a rating to post a review.

Summary: Beware of bogus reviews...
Review: Like some of them for this piece of [junk]. It's fabulous. It solved all of my problems. Next thing you know these fools will be trying to convince you that it'll eliminate world hunger. I bought one of these and used it maybe 5 times in about 2 months with my smartmedia card. After that it just stopped working. I know it was connected correctly because the drives continued to map to it, but when I inserted either card and tried to access the data on it I was given a message to insert a card. Avoid this product

Summary: Best of two worlds, Compactflash and Smartmedia!!
Review: My digital camera takes smartmedia and my associate's digital camera takes compactflash. We got sick of how long it takes to get images from our digital cameras to the computer for editing. Simpletech has the answer, this combo reader! Fast transfers!! I also use CF cards as glorified floppy disks. You will need to get separate cards if you want to do this because your computer will format the CF cards differently than digital cameras.
