Summary: Windows 2000 Service Pack 4 - some problems
Review: I've attached the device to a USB (not 2.0) port on the computer. It worked OK as far as double-checking that some SD media was properly formatted when bought new. It's nice to have the multiple slots per memory type.
However, there are occasional "Unsafe device removal" pop-up dialog boxes from Windows. Something needs to be corrected in the hardware or software.
windowsupdate.microsoft.com indicates that my PC is up-to-date. So, that's not the fix.

Summary: sp2 users BEWARE!!!!!!!
Review: If you have Win XP sp2 DO NOT BUY ANY SANDISK READER!!!
I recieved this reader for a Christmas present2 days ago(I opened it early), and I tried to install it on my computer (win XP with service Pack 2).
It refused to install correctly so I emailed SanDisk support and they finally told me that NONE of thier memory card readers will work with sp2. The problem is that the information isn't available anywhere on thier site or in any ad!!!
Now AMAZON wants to charge me for returning this useless reader that I had no way of knowing wasn't supported on sp2.
All the info available for SanDisk readers say that they will work with Win XP and there is NO mention of sp2.

Review: If you install the driver (also if you run Windows ME/2000/NT), then each driver letter will get its unique icon so you can easily see which driver letter(s) to open to access the memory card(s) that you inserted!

Review: In my opinion this is the best memory card reader you could get. The price at Amazon is a good deal, plus with the free shipping you won't make a mistake. Here is the summary:Pros:
1. It looks elegant. The colour combination of silver and black makes it look like a serious tool you could display even in an office environment.
2. Comes with a bonus stand to enable the display at an upright position. Saves space in a cluttered environment.
3. Comes with another USB cable to you could position it horizontally (flat) on a table. You will have to keep the stand, in this case.
4. USB 2.0 speed which means faster transfer speed.
5. No drivers needed if you use the latest Windows XP or Mac OS X operating system. I use the Mac and there is nothing to install.
6. 8 in 1 memory card reader. Try finding that in othe products at that price and design. You connect as much memory cards that could fill the slot and they will appear individually in your desktop. This means you can transfer files between memory cards without having to transfer and use your desktop as a holding place.
7. Each slot has its own individual lights to indicate correct installation and file activity transfer.
8. Light and portable. Cons:
1. Light - plastic construction. Feels fragile, but I guess SanDisk knows better on making it sturdy.
2. The cable for the bonus stand is long, but the extra cable supplied to lay the product flat is short - and I mean short! This is a plus for those who bring this with their portable computers and don't need the extra long cable. A big minus for those who wish to forego the stand, but decide to use with their desktop on a desk. You will need to connect it to a hub if your USB plug is nowhere close. All in all a great buy for the price.

Summary: Should have used this from the start
Review: Leave it to the people that set the standards for removeable memory. I have messed with internal drives for two years and this beats them all hands down. Great how it assigns drive letters to each slot. Highly recommended.

Summary: Works perfectly on my XP SP2system
Review: Luckily I didn't read the review about this reader not working with XP SP2 before ordering this; it works fine on my system. Also, I can't remember where I read this tip, but if you run the installer (even though the instructions specifically say no drivers needed for XP), you can install a special icon displayer that shows the different card types in the My Computer window--pretty cool. So far I like this reader!

In my case that is incorrect. Took it out of box, plugged it into USB2 slot and XP SP2 recognized it immediately and each slot shows up as a drive in "My Computer"
Works perfect. Highly recommended.

Review: This is an excellent card reader. The base is suprisingly heavy allowing it to sit on my desk very well. Hook up and use was a breeze, even for a computer incompetent as myself!! Get one today and make your life much easier!!

Summary: Must-Have Item!
Review: This is definately a must have item if you take a lot of digital pictures with your camera. I like it so much that I bought one for a friend. I currently run Windows XP. Pros-
1. Lightening quick speeds- I am a big big fan of USB 2.0 technology. The transfer speeds are just awesome. I have a built in CF reader in my multifunction printer. It takes about 5 minutes for the transfer, while it only takes approx. 45 secs for the same transfer with this Sandisk Reader. Just make sure that your USB ports are 2.0 compatible.
2. It's capable of reading a number of types of memory.
3. sleek design. Cons-
1. quite possibly cost. I am sure that many of you will think that it is not worth the additional bux and that is probably what you are contemplating the most. "Do I really went to spend money on an item that would be nice to have, but something that I really dont need?"
If you take a decent amount of digital pictures, then get it. This is one item where I have not had any buyer's remorse. It's a great product that delivers as promised.
2. As with any other USB peripheral, you have to "remove the Hardware" before pulling the plug out of the port. The icon is on your desktop, on the lower right hand side of your screen.

Summary: Works Great First Time and Every Time
Review: This is one of the few gadgets around that works the first time you use it. Windows XP recognized its presence almost immediately. Insert a memory card, and a file pops up on your monitor. Click on it and you're in. Another way is to go into the MY COMPUTER icon and there you will see 4 removable disk icons. The hard part there is guessing where the memory card is at. I tried renaming the four drive icons, but it won't take. Just a minor inconvenience, really. With USB 2, read and write is very fast. I like the stand, but you can detach the reader from that stand, plug in the short USB cord, and you have a pocket-sized memory card reader/writer. I use it not only for pictures, but for storing documents.
