Summary: the best of the kind: fast, convenient, lowest price
Review: I bought it for my Canon PowerShot Elph S100. Best buy so far of the kind. Canon direct tried to push me their basicaly SanDisk brand... when I asked why so expensive and the sales girl said, "I was told that with other cards don't store that many pictures..."...In fact, I did not run accurate tests but this VIking card seems to store actually more.

It comes in a plastic container that is just big enough to put the card in and sturdy enough to keep it protected. Other cards come in containers twice of their size and/or flimsy or even without.

So, I believe to my best knowledge, this product is the best of the kind around. Thanks VIking!

Summary: Low cost storage for digital cameras!
Review: I bought this card to use in my Nikon Coolpix 950, a 2-megapixel digital camera. So far it fills the bill admirably. It stores about 80 pictures at the highest (1600x1200) resolution.

I haven't found much difference among the various brands of cards, so the low cost of this one is an attractive feature.

It's definitely worth noting that Viking makes a card reader called 'Intelliflash reader' that reads both sizes of CompactFlash card as well as SmartMedia wafers (the kind that work in mp3 players). If you use USB, this reader can be up to 50x faster than transferring via your digital cam. In practice it's about 35x as fast for me.

In short, this is an attractive size for digital camera storage - about a 3-day weekend's worth of hi-res pictures - and the price is right!

Summary: Updated Review after some difficulty
Review: I had originally purchased this card in late January 2001. I use it with a Canon S100. After using it for about 3 months the card developed a problem. The problem: the camera detected the card as full, even though I had over space for over 250 low res. pictures left. I tried to format the card in the camera with no result. I then attempted to format the card on my pc with no results. I contacted Viking ( very easy to do ) and spoke with tech service. He explained the problem very admirably. I use the card regularly (several times a week) and erase photos using the camera's delete feature, or my pc's delete feature. By doing this regularly, the storage area on the disk becomes fragmented, and makes storing info difficult. The card was useless. They sent me a free replacement very quickly, it having a lifetime warranty. Viking recommends formatting the card weekly if you delete pics from it regularly. This will of course make you download photos on a more frequent basis. So if you are going to download frequently, and not use so much of the memory, perhaps a smaller card is the way to go. So I have begun using the card again, and so far, so good.

Summary: Fast! Good price too
Review: I own a Nikon Coolpix 800, and have the Sandisk card that comes with it. After buying this Viking CF card, I decided to compare its speed(time it takes from shutter press until the hourglass on the LCD goes away). This card performed twice as fast! Ive been using it with a PCMCIA adapter for a few weeks now, without any problems whatsoever. Highly reccommended!

Summary: Do the math.
Review: I use CompactFlash for my digital cameras, and I've become a fan of the Viking brand. However, I still buy by the dollar-per-meg calculation. Currently, this number should always be less than 2. It is curious to note that the prices on these cards are fluctuating almost daily, and by as much as 20% in one day! I suggest you find the card you want and track it a while.

Summary: It's a small world...afterall
Review: I use this 48MB card with the Canon S100 Digital Elph. Normally, I shoot at low resolution. This disk will store upwards of 280 pics at that resolution. I have had no problems with it at all, using the Viking FlashCard reader to load photos into my Compaq computer. Who needs a bigger card with bigger $$$? This card is enough.

Summary: Why Buy This If There Is a Cheaper One!?!
Review: Why should you buy this 48mb CompactFlash Card for $59.99 when you can buy a 64mb CompactFlash Card for ...(less at this website)?
