Summary: Mine didn't work
Review: I just got mine a few days ago, and then I put it into my S400. After taking 5 pix, then it died. Good thing my camera was not damaged. I am going to return it to Amazon.com. I hope the returning process is smooth. I didn't believe those nagative comments when I ordered. It's my first time using Viking products, and I can tell you I am another unfortunate customer. My lucky part is that it died so fast that I am able to refund this to Amazon.com

Summary: Disapointed!!!
Review: I purchased the 512 MB Viking flash card...and 3 months later the card is no longer functional, I am in the process of getting it replaced, but there is no reason why the card should have malfunctioned so quickly. I have used it over 100 times. I had the impression Flash cards lasted a long time. I also own four 256MB flash cards from Viking and those have never given me a problem. I also like to add the 512 MB is a very slow card, much slower than the 256 MB Viking card. I recommend the 256MB compact flash card, but stay away from the 512MB. There must be a reason why Viking cards are so [inexpensive] and Lexar cards so expensive. My next purchase will be a Lexar card and I hope I wont be dissapointed again.

Summary: Two Defefective Viking Cards....so far
Review: Buyer beware! I purchased a Viking 512 CF card and it lasted about a month before ceasing to function. The replacement card lasted about two months and then crashed. Interestingly, I discovered that my "replacement" card had already been returned once before by somebody else - I had NEVER been informed that I might receive a refurbished card. Viking refused to refund my money and is in the process of sending me another replacement. I wonder how long this one will last.

Summary: Excelent product, but, where's my rebate ?
Review: The card itself is just fine, I haven't had even the slightest glitch. The rebate Viking offers is what bothers me, my card din't have the UPC Code label that you must send in so even if it's offered, I lost my 50 bucks that made me buy this brand... Bad advertising sceme, excelent memory card....

Summary: AMAZON HAS A GREAT PRICE - Works like the rest of them
Review: This card at the time was an excellent value - works just like the rest of the brands - shop price & capacity & forget everything else - card speed is irrelevent in the consumer/prosumer market - IE the camera electronics are slower than the card - look for the mostest memory for the leastest price - HOWEVER, Do BUY A REPUTABLE BRAND

Summary: Perfect complement to a Canon G2
Review: Add this to a 4 mega-pixel camera such as the Canon G2 and you've got the capacity to shoot 500 pictures (at regular compression), that's either a very full weekend or a whole week of normal shooting. When traveling, we edit our pictures in the evening in the hotel - throwing out the duds to keep even more space available for the next day of shooting.

Summary: Inexpensive, big and fast
Review: At the time of my purchase, this card was much less expensive (after rebate) than other 512mb cards. But do you only get what you pay for? In this case, no. Review of available information ... will lead you to conclude that this card outperforms much of its more expensive competition within the surprisingly narrow range of differences among cards when compared in the same camera. How about actual use? The card worked perfectly out of the box in my Canon PowerShot S45, with no discernible performance difference from the included 32mb card, except for that ocean of space. Chalk up another mark for digital photography. In just a couple of years, available on-board memory has gone from a huge disadvantage of digital photography to a liberating benefit.

Summary: A very decent product
Review: Note that the formatted capacity for this 512MB module is about 488MB (for the 256MB module, it's about 244MB). This module appears to be a little faster than the 256MB module. Here are some results of my test on this 512MB module:
Transfer a ~128 MB file to/from an internal hard-drive using a USB1.1 reader/writer with the CF module: both read/write are consistently under 2min 30sec. With a USB2.0 reader/writer: read is ~10sec (if the file is already in the system cache), write is under 1min. If the file is not in the system cache, the read time is about the same as the write time. [...]
