Summary: Works Great - Short USB Cord however
Review: I had no problems installing the product on my Dell Windows XP machine and was able to read from all the media that I have. I was a little dissapointed the USB cord from the unit was short - it's at most 4 feet. I have my machine under and to one side of my desk and the cord just barely stretches to the spot that I would like it. I really like the upright look of the drive; it takes up little space and looks better than the flat horizontal drives.

Summary: Has Problem Working With Some Brands Of CF Memory Cards
Review: The device looks great, but that is where it ends. The first thing I notice when I received my unit was that the plastic strain relief holding the cable on the back of the docking station was not properly installed - it was halfway out and I could not get it to push back in where it should be. That didn't matter too much since I was planning on using the included travel cable. I primarily use CF Memory cards with my digital camera, but I was also needing a SD and Memory Stick card reader so I thought I would go with this all in one reader. What sold me on this unit was that it had USB 2.0. It seems to work with the SD and Memory Stick cards that I have, but it doesn't work with all the CF cards that I have - especially the 128MB SimpleTech CF cards. It's already been mentioned in a previous review that there is also a problem with it reading Viking 128MB CF cards. So if you're planning on using CF memory cards in this reader, be forewarn that they may not work.

Summary: Nice Card Reader
Review: I have had this card reader now for awhile and it works super. I use Windows XP pro. When I first got the reader, I was having trouble when I inserted a Sandisk SD card higher than 128 mb. The card reader would drop out of the system. I tried everything to correct this and it was all to no avail. Finally after talking to Sandisk tech support (which were extremely helpful)They had me go into my Norton Antivirus program and disable the Scan all removeable media for boot viruses everytime it is mounted. After doing this everything works like it is supposed to. If anyone else is having this similar problem, give this a try, it should help.

Summary: SanDisk Reader does not read high capacity "other brands"
Review: The SanDisk reader did not read a 128Mb Viking Compact Flash card. I checked the card and it works ok in my camera, and was also readable in another reader which I have at work.
Sandisk Technical Support acknowledged that there are issues reading "other brand" high capacity media and are "researching" it. Unfortunately, that doesnt help me at the current time. I'm going to have to return this now.

Summary: Beware if you have Viking 128MB CF memory
Review: Everything works... Panasonic 16MB/ Lexar 128 MS, Canon 16MB CF, 8MB SmartMedia. Except the 128 CF by Viking.
I email Sandisk support, but has not hear anything back yet.

Summary: Great card reader!
Review: Just bought this, was impressed by its heft...the unit appears to be solidly constructed. Installation in Windows XP was a snap- plug in the device and wait 15 seconds for XP to install the drivers. In Windows Explorer for My Computer, you'll see four "removable disks"- the first is for the Compact Flash slot, the second for the Secure Digital/MultiMedia Card slot, the third is for SmartMedia, and the fourth is for Memory Stick. What this also means is that all four slots are active at all times and you can transfer data across the different media types. I'm glad the reader supports USB 2.0 - my Dell PC has USB 2.0 native, so data transfers are really fast! The documentation is a little skimpy, but Sandisk includes a toll-free number. I'm happy with the purchase and I can recommend the Sandisk Reader without hesitation.

Summary: Has major problems with Dell Dimension 4500 and Windows XP
Review: I bought this product to use on my Dell Dimension 4500 with Windows XP, and it does not work very well.

When I plugged the unit in the built-in USB 2.0 ports of the Dell Dimension, Windows XP detected the reader OK, but when I tried to read some of my cards the problems started. The reader could browse my Viking CF card, but when I tried to read any files the files came off corrupted. I tested these files on my old CF reader and they were fine. Furthermore after trying to read files from the CF card, the driver seemed to hang. The activity light for the CF slot stayed on, even after the card was ejected.

When I tried to read a Sandisk SD card the reader would hang up up again. Nothing worked in regards to reading, browsing or writing to the Sandisk SD card.

The only thing that did work was reading SM cards.

The unit has a great form-factor and a great price, but still it needs to work. Do not buy this product if you have a setup as mine.

Summary: You Get What You Pay For
Review: I got one of these from a supplier other than Amazon. It does not work. It sometimes freezes my Windows 98 SE computer (admittedly a USB 1.1 that this is supposed to be backward compatible for). It does not read the cards properly. I thank the person who suggested disabling NAV, but that didn't work either. ...
