Summary: Wonderful little product
Review: Inexpensive solution to reading two different storage media for two different cameras. Easy plug-n-play even with Windows XP. Comes with extension cable if needed. Have had no problems whatsoever with this device. Just purchased another for a gift. At this price you should buy one for traveling with your laptop and one to leave at home with your desktop PC.

Summary: Can have some nasty compatibility problems and stops working
Review: On windows 98, it worked fine for a few days and then stopped working completely. To get it back again, requested help from Sandisk, they did respond, but it is back, though the amber light stays on. This goes back.

Summary: just works
Review: Plugged it into my windows 2000 laptop and it just worked!
My compact flash card shows up as a regular hard drive, you can drag & drop em and everything.

It comes with a VERY short cord that folds into it (good for taking it with you) and an extension cord for those of us stuck with rear mounted USB ports on our desktops

Has a nifty little light that flashes while its copies.

Great little device, i'm very impressed.

Summary: Sometimes it works . . .
Review: Sometimes it doesn't work! I've had mine for a year now, and I have checked for updated drivers.

I use mine with Windows XP Professional. I've used it to read smart media cards and compact flash cards, and in both instances I often get screen freezes when trying to access the cards. Then I have to reboot.

Sometimes I have to reboot three or four times before the thing works right. What's up? I dunno. I'm not a newbie. I've tried a variety of fixes, including reinstalling the driver, unplugging the USB cable and trying a different slot, and standing on my head when inserting the cards. This device is not reliable.

When it does work, after two or three reboots, it works just fine.

Try a different brand.

Summary: Simplicity
Review: There's little to ask for when it comes to a gadget like this. It should work, and it shouldn't be confusing. This little card reader fits both categories. It takes up very little space. I just plug it into the USB port when I need it, XP always recognizes it right away and it always works, and when I'm done it goes back in the drawer. I've used it for several types of SmartMedia cards without a hitch. Having been through many soggy peripherals over the years I appreciate it all the more when I come across something that works this well.

Summary: Love stuff like this -- cheap, effective & easy
Review: This is something that's as easy to use as claimed and works every bit as well. Simple, goof-proof and handy. Ideal for when you want to upload images to a PC that you can't or don't want to put the camera drivers on. Don't know how I got along without it!

Summary: handy little device
Review: This was the third memory card reader that I purchased. The first two either did not work or their directions were too difficult to understand. This device is perfect. It can be quickly plugged into the front USB port of your computer or with the extension wire which is included into the rear of your computer. It shows up as a removable disk (E OR F) when the card is inserted and you can then remove and insert compact flash or smart media cards as long as the light is not flashing (active data transfer). This saves on battery power and ordinary wear and tear for your expensive digital camera. The transfer time is also amazingly fast, better than the cameras themselves. I have both an Olympus and a Canon digital camera so this multi card reader is great. Its small enough to take on any trip in a pocket of your camera case (depending upon size) or luggage but its greatest use will be at home when you want to do a lot of work without taxing your camera. What's most amazing however is the price. There is not much you can buy for your digital camera that costs so little.
