Summary: Like every other SD Card...
Review: ...this product protects against unauthorized replication of copyrighted content. As a result, copyrighted digital-audio files downloaded from music services can't be played on devices that use SD Cards, thus preventing the use of stolen material on said devices.

Summary: Viking 128 MB SD Card for PDA's
Review: After receiving this SD card from Amazon[.com], I was looking for instructions but it was not included. So I inserted this in my new HP iPAQ 1910 PDA and it worked. Even I don't have to format it as needed in other SD cards. It is a great product without any doubt and moreover it is having 5 years warranty from Manufacturer. What else we want. Highly recomended.

Summary: Never worked in my iPAQ
Review: After waiting several weeks for the 128MB SD card to arrive, I finally got it. Gleefully I inserted it into my Compaq iPAQ's SD slot and -- pffftttttttttt. Nothing. Nothing at all. I got an error dialog box saying the card was unrecognizable... Didn't even allow me to format it or anything...I have had no problems with my SanDisk 64MB SD card.

Summary: Using SD128M with Magellan Meridian Platinum GPS
Review: First of all, I'm not sure where the problem is but this card did not work with my Meridian GPS. It could have been either device. My GPS was shipped from Amazon.com with software rev. 3.05. 3.05 does not support 128Meg memory. Magellan sent to me a CD with rev 3.08 which should support the 128Meg card. If it dose, it sure dosen't work in my Meridian Platinum.

As for the GPS unit itself, it's very nice and Magellan customer support is outstanding. I feel it is not fully intagrated into the Magellan software suite of products. There are too many work-arounds and bandaids to get the system to work. I'll purchase the 32M or the 64M card and hope for better results...

Summary: Wont play ...[some] files
Review: Guess what they dont mention? This product contains the hated RIAA secure digital music initiative ie it wont play all of the .mp3 that you downloaded. Read this quote from news.com

"However, not everyone considers such security a step forward. Secure Digital includes software that complies with Secure Digital Music Initiative standards protecting against unauthorized replication of copyrighted content. As a result, digital-audio files downloaded from music services,... cannot be played on devices that use Secure Digital cards"

In short you will only be able to use this with the RIAA approved songs and only as long as you pay the monthly fee. NO THANKS!

Summary: How many pictures will it store?
Review: How many pictures will it store? It is the most commonly asked question from digital camera enthusiast but usually the question that is the most difficult to get a straight answer about. Well, considering I worked in the memory industry for over 7 years I can help clarify this perplexing question and do so unbiased as I have since changed industries.

The Viking 128MB Secure Digital Card, like most 128MB cards, will store on average 142 pictures when used with a 2 megapixel camera, 106 images when used with a 3 megapixel camera, 64 pictures when used with a 4 megapixel camera, 51 images when used with a 5 megapixel camera, and 40 pictures when used with a 6 megapixel camera. These numbers are based off the assumption that you are going to shoot your images at the highest quality JPEG setting available for the camera and understand that they are estimates and may be off by as much as 10 percent due to numerous factors including the complexity of the scene being shot and the compression algorithm used by your specific camera.

I truly hope this review was helpful to you in determining whether this card is the right capacity for your specific needs.

Summary: FORGET YOUR REBATE!! -- You won't get it
Review: I am another one who didn't get the rebate at all.

Be careful with this Viking brand.

If you wonna buy it, just look at the price before rebate!!

Summary: Buyer beware of Viking!
Review: I bought this because of a rebate offer. I paid full price, printed out the rebate form and waited for my SD card. When I received the card I filled out the rebate form and discovered that they will not mail a rebate to a PO Box. Since I live in a rural area, a PO box is my only way to receive mail. I wrote a letter of explanation and mailed everything in. No reply of any kind from Viking. Spend your money elsewhere.

Summary: Slow. Slow. Did I say slow?
Review: I bought this card as a spare memory for my Casio 5MP digicam.
The original memory that I got free as a bonus with the camera was
branded Edge and also has 128MB on it. The first thing I did when
I got the Viking card was of course insert in into the camera and see
if it works. It sure did, but I immediately noticed that it is quite
a bit slower than Edge. Maximum resolution pictures produce files
about 2.5MB in size and it took good 4-5 seconds to record them to
this Viking card. Add to that 2-3 seconds that camera takes for image
processing and you get whopping 7-8 seconds from shot to shot.
For comparison with the Edge card it is 4-5 seconds. Still a lot, but not
as frustrating.
The only plus - Viking is cheap from many retailers, and rebates are often
avalable.
My advice: if you need SD memory for digital photography at high resolution
get a card with guaranteed high transfer rate - at least 5MB/sec.
You'll have to pay more, but it is worth it.
