Review: Have owned 4 months. Bought 2 128MB cards. no problems for 3 months. camera stopped recognizing 1 of the cards, but Viking promptly replaced. Best customer service I,ve seen for a long time. rebate was extra slow to arrive, took about 3 months.

Summary: The cheapest Smart Media on the market
Review: I recently received a Fuji Finepix F601 as a gift; the giver, a professional photographer, included a Fuji 128MB Smart Media Card as a matter of course. Thank goodness he knew what he was doing in terms of storage needs, at least -- the 601 only comes with a 16MB card, which on the 601 is only enough for 5 images at the highest recording level. If you're getting a compatible Fuji, Olympus, or other-brand camera, you really need the highest storage card possible. But it turns out these cards are fragile, and fingerprints can short them out or cause problems with the camera or reader being able to access their contents. So the best way to keep them around forever is to get a 128 MB card and never remove it! Ideally, then, this should be a solution coupled with the purchase or ownership of a camera which interfaces directly (USB or firewire) with the PC, so there won't be a need to remove the card. Ever. That security, and the ability to store over a hundred 8x10 print-quality pix on one wafer-thin card, makes the bigger sized card easily worth the extra cost if you're getting a Fuji or other-brand digital camera. As for brand...well, after trying a Fuji and a Viking card, and checking the wiring stats on both, it turns out the brand names of Smart Cards have almost nothing to do with quality -- these are, for all intents and purposes, interchangable -- so buying the cheapest one out there is the best bet. And, with rebates, the Viking card IS the cheapest Smart Media brand on the market -- by a factor of about 10% or more. Order now before the sale price changes!

Summary: are you sure this really works with olympus c3030?
Review: I was able to use a 128Mb card in my olympus 3040, until today, when it suddenly stopped working. I think the thing I finally did was actually use more than 64Mb of space on the card. Suddenly the first 4 images on my card was corrupted, as though its file system wrapped around back to the beginning, and now the camera won't work with the card at all. It's as though the camera couldn't tell it was 128Mb card until data beyond the 64Mb limit was written. The camera will not use the card no matter what I do, but I was able to copy 124Mb of data to the card via my PCMCIA adapter on my laptop, and read that data off to validate it. It worked fine. Meanwhile, I have never actually seen any piece of olympus documentation ANYWHERE that says that anything greater than 64Mb is supported, including the olympus web site. Anybody care to comment?

Summary: Quality and Price
Review: When shopping for additional memory for my Olympus digital camera I had two considerations, quality and price. In this instance Viking was a brand name with a good reputation for quality and between Amazon.com's discount and Viking's rebate the price was within a buck or two of the lowest anywhere for any brand of 128MB SmartMedia cards. This made buying it an easy decision. In the camera it works flawlessly. As a novice digital photographer I'm still in awe of the freedom having a big memory card gives me to shoot 256 high-res pictures without changing "film".

Summary: How do I get a replacement?
Review: I have had this memory card about 4 months and now I can't write to it or from it or see what is on it because the computer says it is corrupted. It has stuff on it that I can't get to. It is supposed to be garaunteed for 5 years but I can't find out how to contact anone.

Summary: At least this one works
Review: In another review, I describe the negative experience I had with a Sandisk 128MB card. In summary, the card was defective and I lost 240 pictures. More recently, I have been using this Viking card and it has worked flawlessly, at least so far. I have a 2 megapixel camera, and in HQ mode each photo is approximately 500K, and in SHQ mode 1MB. This means you can fit 256 or 128 photos in the respective modes. In my brief experience I have found the HQ mode sufficient for most photos, so for me this card stores the equivelant of 10 rolls of film. For my 2 megapixel camera, this has been a convenience. For those who plan to save even larger files, I would say that the 128MB size is essential. And with the falling prices on these cards, it makes more sense than ever to invest in a card this size.

Summary: Cheap, great and reliable
Review: I would like to say that this kinda of memory storage media is one of the cheapest on the market(that and the Compact Flash media). I bought this memory for Xmas for two Xmas gifts and I think that its worth its price. 128mb would be expensive on SD or XD memory, but for the SmartMedia and Compact Flash, its cheap. The load time between picture and viewing is excellent, and usually take less then a second (where as the XD or SD, its takes a fraction of the time). I have no complaints on this item, since its been around for awhile and was one of the first memory media out on the market for Digital Cameras. So Im sure that it is on its 4th or 5th generation (generation = meaning how many times the media has been improved appone, usually, this is good, cause more generations a media lives threw, more problems taht have been fixed from the previous generation).
Even though this media is becoming outdated, its still a reliable and highly recommended for the beginner or the amateur photographer. I havent used this memory for MP3 players, but heared its great.

Summary: perfect for digital cameras
Review: this was the perfect sized card for my 2MP camera. I definately recommend getting a bigger card rather than a smaller - you'll wish you had it when you run out of room. I would even go up from this, but so far I haven't taken enough pictures to warrant a bigger one.

Summary: A great product, but a sleazy rebate
Review: Amazed that Amazon.com would offer a rebate that says 15 days to return rebate information and then not even ship the card and it's been 15 days since I ordered it. My girlfriend got hers today, exactly 15 days after she ordered it (too late to get to the post office). First disappointing purchase experience with Amazon.com. It's a shame given what a otherwise great company they are. I just cancelled my order out of my frustration. My girlfriend is probably going to return her card. Don't offer the rebate if you can't fulfill it! It's pulling people into a purchase that they may not have otherwise bought and then not honoring the rebate offer. The card is great, by the way. No problem, ever, after 6 months of ownership.
