Summary: Not compatible with all memory stick readers
Review: Be careful when buying a memory stick that is non-Sony. Some may work great. However, I bought the Lexar translucent 128 mb. It worked fine in my camera, but I have significant problems downloading the images with my Dazzle 6 in 1 reader. I have spoken directly with Lexar and Dazzle product support. Lexar has admitted some problems and Dazzle also said that some of Lexar's memory sticks are non Sony compatible. Rather than try to save a few dollars, it is worth it to stick with the Sony memory sticks unless you are sure the brand works with your particular reader.

Summary: Standard quality but LED waste power
Review: Hi,
I have a Sony DSC-P71 Cybershot that I use with this memory stick. The memory stick has a LED that light's when it writes. But when it is inside the Cybershot you can't see it. And the Cybershot has it's own LED anyway. So I think this memory stick is wasting batery life.

Thank-you

Summary: How many pictures will it store?
Review: How many pictures will it store? It is the most commonly asked question from digital camera enthusiast but usually the question that is the most difficult to get a straight answer about. Well, considering I worked in the memory industry for over 7 years I can help clarify this perplexing question and do so unbiased as I have since changed industries.

The Lexar Media 128MB Translucent Memory Stick, like most 128MB cards, will store on average 142 pictures when used with a 2 megapixel camera, 106 images when used with a 3 megapixel camera, 64 pictures when used with a 4 megapixel camera, 51 images when used with a 5 megapixel camera, and 40 pictures when used with a 6 megapixel camera. These numbers are based off the assumption that you are going to shoot your images at the highest quality JPEG setting available for the camera and understand that they are estimates and may be off by as much as 10 percent due to numerous factors including the complexity of the scene being shot and the compression algorithm used by your specific camera.

I truly hope this review was helpful to you in determining whether this card is the right capacity for your specific needs.

Summary: Big Problems with LEXAR 128 mb memory sticks
Review: I bought two of the translucent purple sticks. They worked fine in my camera and recorded beautiful images. I travel alot so took the sticks to a photo shop to burn to a CD. The shop was unable to read any of the files. Then when I returned home I tried to transfer the images to my computer. The files were corrupted and I could not open them. Now, I have two sony memory sticks also. I had no problem with either of them. I do not know what the problem with the Lexar media is but it gets worse. Now I can not even view the photo on my camera. I get a message saying "Format Error". The computer and the camera recognize the photo files but are unable to open them. I am heart sick to have lost so many memories. ...

Summary: Excellent device (so far)
Review: I purchased the Lexar memory stick for my Sony Vaio PC. I also purchased a Sony PCMCIA Memory Stick Adapter (MSAC-PC2) for my IBM Thinkpad 600E. The adapter worked fine, was recognized instantly by XP, and now I can transfer large amounts of data back and forth among my laptop and my home PC without any problem.

XP recognizes the memory stick about the same as when you insert a CD--it pops up a dialog box asking you what program to use to view the new media.

Summary: Twinkles and is compatable
Review: Other reviewers have commented on lack of compatablity with some memory readers. My family has two different Sony digital cammeras and three different (none of them Sony) memory stick readers. I have had no problem with any of the devices I use this memory stick with.

The blinking light is a nice feature for when using the stick readers.

In my experence the Lexar sticks have no functional difference (other than the blinking light) from the Sony sticks. The major difference seems to be the price. Lexar is typically cheaper.

Summary: It Blinks While Its Saving Data
Review: When I purchased this Lexar 128 MB Translucent Memory Stick, I thought I was getting a memory card in a really cool (purple) color.

I was surprised to learn, once I received it, that this Memory Stick also blinks (on its end) while its saving data -- so that you won't accidentally remove it while its doing so! (Cool!)

This Lexar Memory Stick works well in all of my Memory Stick devices -- my Sony Vaio computer, Sony Clie PDA, Dazzle 6-in-1 memory card reader, HP Photosmart Printer, even my Sony PC Card Memory Stick adapter. I haven't had any problems.

Delivery from Circuit City was also uneventful (and fast).

Is an indicator light and the cool translucent color worth a little cost premium? You bet!
