Rating: Summary: The CPU inside is an IDT WinChip not a Pentium Review: So even it running at 200 MHz, the performance is about the same as a real Pentium 133. The reason is this CPU's floating calc speed is way too slow, and the software today (especially those multimedia software) uses lots of floating calc power. It is very easy to install and compatible to socket 5, which lots of old Pentium based PCs are using. A real Pentium 200 won't fit in Socket 5 and most likely you won't find the connector on your motherboard to plug the CPU fan. So if you have a < P100 PC but do not want to upgrade motherboard (in most cases, that means you will have to upgrade memory and PC case also), this one may be a choice for you. From the one I got, I really doubt about PNY's quality control. It was wrapped perfectly outside, but when I opened the box, the CPU was actually out of the place it should be. Many pins (on all four sides) were banded. So I had to align them one by one. The plastic wrapper on the video tape was opened, very carefully. From this I can tell my CPU is not brand new but a returned product. And it was not checked, tested or packed carefully. The CPU is working so far. That's where the 2 stars coming from.
