Summary: Easy to Use
Review: This product operates like an external hard drive. It is easy to use - just be sure your computer has the proper operating system and installed USB port driver. It is very flexible, accepting several types of memory cards. I highly recommend it for digital photos. It allows the user to eliminate the tedious process of downloading photos via digital camera cable. Works just as well for .mp3 and other files. Great quality product.

Summary: Works great!
Review: Had no problems with this reader. I installed with the latest drivers from their website after reading some of the other reviews found here. I am very pleased with this reader. It reads really fast and I like the fact that it can accept all three different types of cards. The card I use is a compactflash type I that requires the use of the included type II adapter which doesn't bother me a bit.

Summary: Fast and Simple
Review: Very satisfied with this product. It is FAST! Plug this in USB and you have a drive to read your smart media or compact flash and it is so fast that your images appear instantaneously in Windows Explorer. Using with Windows98 and had no problems installing. You can also use to write to your media so after getting your pictures on your PC you simply delete them off the media and you are ready to go again.

Summary: Works fine with Windows Me
Review: I needed a card reader because downloading from my Kodak DC4800 was a real pain. The Intelliflash looked good but several of the reviews mentioned problems with Me. I decided to order it anyway, and while I was waiting I downloaded Me drivers from Vikings site. When The reader arrived it stated Me support on the box, so I loaded from the CD without using the drivers I had downloaded. No problem! Everything worked great. I've since installed a USB hub and it still works fine. Very nice product.

Summary: Great support from Viking & PCMCIA works on NT4
Review: The product works well and I highly commend Viking's support service. I just use the PCMCIA bit with my laptop and had no problems under Win 98. But NT4 was another matter. Despite Viking stating its not supported under NT4 they provided a response within half a day of my submitting a query on their site. AND their suggestions worked :-) USB is a no show though under NT4.

Summary: Great product
Review: As easy as it gets. Installed the S/W, plugged it in, and I was off. Highlight the pictures and drag 'em over to the HDD.

I also have the lexar parallel port compact flash reader. I had nothing but problems with that one. I would have to install it, copy pics, and uninstall it each time I wanted to use it.

No such problems here. It's just another [removable] drive.

Sweet!

Summary: Works like a dream.
Review: I just bought this product, and I LOVE IT. No problems with installation, no software incompatibilities, no tearing of hair or gnashing of teeth in frustration---it is orders of magnitude superior to the Sandisk ImageMate CompactFlash card reader. Well worth the extra bucks.

Summary: It works, but arrived broken
Review: I bought this so I could read the Flash RAM from my Digital camera. It works for that, but the pcCard eject button didn't work from the outset. With some effort, I can remove the card when I use it, but it doesn't have the convenience I would like.

I'm thinking of trying to return or exchange it, but it's such a pain to go through the hastle of mailing this back, that I'm really tempted just to remove the case.

And that's another thing, it's press bonded together somehow, so I can't even unscrew it to try to fix it. Obviously buil to work, or to be thrown away.

I do however, generally like the software that it uses, although somehow it creates an extra virtual drive for some unknown reason.

It worked fine with the Canon digital processing software, and although the clear plastic case is kinda cool. It allows me to see where the eject button is broken.

Summary: Reliability, Mis-Labeled?
Review: I needed a card reader and this looked like a good choice, not really. One reason I chose this one is it said Windows 2000 ready. So I placed my order and it arrived. Like a kid at Christmas I ripped the box open, hooked it up, looked at the CD and it said "Support for Win2k", so like an idiot I installed it. Asked me to reboot so I did, windows starts loading and "finds new hardware" (cool it works). After waiting about 5 minutes at the found new hardware I was convinced something was wrong. Turns out you have to get new drivers for Win2k support, and it made my computer unusable. I had to boot into safe mode and remove it MANUALLY from the registry since it was never properly installed. I got the new drivers and installed them, cool no problems. It booted up and loaded fine. I went to the drive, no drive letters. I went to the support page and found a few people complained about it, I tried all the fixes they suggested nadda. I finally got frustrated and went to rescan computer devices. Whoa, the drive popped up. The moral of the story is, whenever I want to use the drive I have to go into control panel and rescan the hardware. Tech Support is no help at all. If you can ever figure out there horribly complex trouble ticket system.

Summary: 3 media types is misleading
Review: This device really only reads SmartMedia and full size PCMCIA media. BUT they include a Compact flash to PCMCIA adaptor. In a way this is nice because I can use the adaptor with out the USB device in my laptop, but it is a pain using compact flash because you have to eject the adaptor then remove the compact flash from the adaptor.

The photo and description should be changed to include this information!
