Summary: Great performance, bad plastic
Review: It works great. I use it for reading smartmedia cards, and it does a great, fast job of that. It was super easy to install, no conflicts.

The downsides: It comes with support for smartmedia, compactflash and pcmcia, so if you only want one of these, like me, you're going to be paying extra for features you don't need. In fact, if you're not using pcmcia, then you're paying for a whole extra adapter you don't need. The other downside with this unit is that the plastic is oh so flimsy. I can't believe how poorly designed the casing is. I stuck sticky velcro on the bottom of the unit and velcro on the top of my monitor, so that i could attach the drive to my monitor without it moving. When i tried to pull the drive off my monitor, some of the plastic casing actually snapped open!!! So, velcro is stronger than this usit. I snapped back together the casing, and it works fine. I also removed the velcro!

Summary: Says it's Mac compatible... It's not.
Review: Originally, the Viking Intelliflash worked great on the Mac under OS 9.

Unfortunately, the Intelliflash DOES NOT WORK UNDER OS 10 (X). Worse still, Viking tech support informed me they have no plans to support Mac OS X. They claimed it was "Apple's fault" for not providing them all the information they needed - which is kinda funny, since OS X is open source and Apple works closely with it's developers.

Summary: Worse than useless.
Review: Software installed and appeared to run with no problems, but unit would not recognize SmartMedia cards. Worse, it appeared to signficantly damage them via abrasion on each insertion. Vendor will not accept returns from end users, only exchanges. However, Amazon will (thank you!)
