Rating: Summary: Mostly bad results Review: I had an earlier IOGear 1-port card for a Dell Inspiron 2650 (XP), and I never got it to work. I just got the GPU202 2-port card for a new Dell Inspiron 300m (XP), with the same results. This time I downloaded the newest driver - still no luck. The laptop recognizes some peripherals plugged into the GPU202, but they won't function. In any case, this is the last time I will waste any money on IOGear.
Rating: Summary: Depends on your laptop model... Review: I have a fujitsu E series laptop with Windows XP. The cardbus will only work with USB 1.1 peripherals. I bought an IOGEAR 2.5in USB 2.0 external hard drive enclosure and this hangs when connected via the card, sometimes spontaniously rebooting my pc. Writing to my new TDK USB 2.0 40x CDRW (via Roxio OR Easy CD Creator) also fails. Yes I've tried powering the cardbus (and the enclosure) to no avail. Iogear support was non responsive. Even after a clean install of XP (for other reasons) the problem with the ION persisted. Then tried the card with the same CDRW and Drive enclosure on my friends Dell Inspiron with XP - no problems! So you may be delighted or you may not.
Rating: Summary: OK FOR ME Review: I have a Toshiba Satellite Laptop that it's about 2 years old, so i needed this PcCard for it cause i just bought a 2.0 USB Cd external burner. So far so good, easy to install and it worked great, i recomend this one.
Rating: Summary: Easy to install Review: I have an HP 1800 laptop running Windows XP Home Edition. The hardest part of the install was opening the box. Followed the directions provided and it was up and running inside of two minutes. If you need high speed USB on your laptop is the card to buy.
Rating: Summary: Bad product and non-existing support Review: I took quite some fiddling to get the device to install properly on my XP system. Even so it didn't work with my external hard drive, it couldn't complete an I/O operation and the system locked up. I contacted support by e-mail (they don't provide a phone number) more than two weeks ago and I have still not heard from them. My advice is to try some other manufacturer.
Rating: Summary: This Works Great! Review: I was a little nervous about ordering this because of another review here, but I took a chance and am very glad I did. I have a Dell Inspiron laptop and I plugged it into the slot it, installed perfectly and works like a dream. Couldn't have been easier.
Rating: Summary: Caused lock-ups with my machine Review: I've used many pcmcia cards before with my computer (Compaq Evo n600c, WinXP Pro), with no problems. This card was the exception. First 5 times I used it, it worked great. After that, it would cause my machine to freeze whenever I inserted it. In the end, I discovered that the only way to get it to work was to reboot the machine at least once with the card already inserted. Driver updates did nothing to fix this problem. Major inconvenience and no support resources. Go with another card if you can.
Rating: Summary: IOGEAR card not compatible with Intel based chipsets!! Review: If you have a Pentium chipset and you want to get USB 2.0 devices to work with this card, YOU ARE OUT OF LUCK!!...NEC USB 2.0 chipsets are incompatible with Intel based computers. I tried many different USB 2.0 products from different manufactures ( IOGEAR, D-LINK... ) and they all don't work with this card. I also bought the external power adapter for this card, but it still doesn't help. USB 1.1 devices work fine with this card, but USB 2.0 doesn't...
Rating: Summary: GPU202 has problem with my Omnibook 6000 Review: The GPU2002 I bought doesn't work properly with my Omnibook 6000. The data in the external USB2 disk got lost. From the previous reviews, its performance seems to be a random thing, depending on the machine you have.
Rating: Summary: Fast but unstable Review: This card is very fast. It work great with my iomega predator. The only bad part is that if I try to unplug the card from the computer with Win 2000 the computer frozes with a blue screen. Also you can forget the standby function with win 2000 if you have the card plugged in.
