Summary: If You Love Music Buy This Stereo--It Sounds Great.
Review: I have been a JVC fan for many years. JVC introduced the first portable stereo with amplified sub-wolfer in 1986 (Model PV-RV2J). Following in this tradition, the JVC RVB90 is a worthy successor. There is no consumer portable stereos that can match the JVC, in terms of sound quality. Yes, it's heavy and somewhat ugly---but I bought mine because function was more important than style. The unit comes with a full function IR remote giving you complete access to all controls. Additional remote control units are available from JVC for a nominal charge. In short, this is a great unit with fantastic sound. If you care about into how your music "SOUNDS" this is the stereo to buy. This model has come down in price too. When I purchased my unit the retail price was $299.99. At less than $200.00, purchasing this BoomBox is a no brainer. Buy it---you will not be sorry!!!!

Summary: The most powerful boombox ever made.
Review: I have listened to practically every boombox available on the market, and this boombox is the best I've heard. When you turn up the volume close to its maximum, the sound is still clean, not distorted and scratchy like most boomboxes. Most boomboxes have some sort of feature which enhances the bass and low frequency mid-range notes. This boombox, instead of a one-button "all or nothing" bass enhancement, has a variable bass enhancement feature; it has six levels to choose from, and each level is distinctly more powerful than the previous level. I am 100% totally satisfied with this product.

Summary: An Amazing Product Unfortunately Discontinued
Review: I have the grey model and I have to say that out of all the boombox style portable stereos I have listened to (and I always check them out), this model KaBoom is by far the best. I mean if you want sound and bass this stereo has it in spades. But don't think that this is all it has. It also sounds great at lower volumes. I listen to everything from hip hop to reggae to Mozart to Machine Head to John Coletrane and it all sounds great. That's why it frustrates me to no end as to why JVC discontinued this model and replaced it with a ... underpowered smaller model that costs more to boot! Sure it was heavy, ate batteries (10-D cells and 4-AA cells) like it was going out of style, and the carrying strap wasn't the most robust (the swivels let go on me and I almost dumped mine on a concrete floor) but so what? I'd put up with all those short commings because of the sound. Please, please, oh please JVC bring back the RV-B model KaBoom!!!

Summary: Wonderful Sounding Stereo
Review: I parents bought a $300 AIWA stereo system before I bought this one. I must tell you, this stereo soundds better than a $300 stereo. Even after my parents spent an additional $200 for a subwoofer, I still think my stereo sounds better. The look of the stereo is also very cool. For $170, this is a wonderful stereo.

Summary: Not worth the Money in MY OPINION
Review: I was disappointed in the unit in that it didn't seem loudenough for a Boombox of this quality. The specs indicate that it has26 watts per channel when actual I believe is 6 watts.

The unit was the Best looking boombox I have ever seen but looks aren't everything! I purchased it based the 15 other people (Amazon) who had rated it an average of 5 stars.

Here are my observations:

The FM tuner is not sensitive enough;I have a cheaper radio that gets clearer reception. The cassette player is an auto-reverse. After having an auto-reverse before, this may the first part of the unit to fail. If you have heard the "clicks" when it determines which side to play, you probably know what I mean. The CD player sounded strong and clear, but overall I think the unit does not have enough power to drive the main speakers and the woofers. I do have to admit that at a volume rating of 50 the sound was still very clear.

The solution might possibly be to buy the higher powered unit for $100 more. I returned the unit to Amazon for a refund. They were extremely accomodating and I am sure to purchase from Amazon in the future! END

Summary: Read This!
Review: I work in construction and it is always LOUD, but even with ear protection on, power tools blazing, air compressors running at over 60 dB non-stop I can still hear this baby CRYSTAL CLEAR! And that's only at 3/4 volume!

Summary: Yeah, what those guys said!
Review: If you look at the power delivered by most portable stereo and boombox systems, you will be amazed to find that they rarely exceeds 30 watts. Some products are even more disappointing in delivering less than 10 watts. This boombox blasts out 52 watts of continuous power. An added bonus - Amazon.com is selling them for less than most on the web. In fact, I paid more :(

Summary: Drew is mistaken..
Review: Just to clear up a misunderstanding with Drew's review-he mentions that there is no headphone jack. I have this radio and have ordered several for my friends, and they all have headphone and aux. jacks on them. They can be found right behind the volume and bass knob on the top-back of radio! You kinda have to look for it though. They are not easily viewable on the dark green surface of this particular model the JVC RV-B90. But everything else Drew says I whole heartedly agree! Get this BOOMBOX, all my friends rave about it!
