Summary: Great little stereo for the price
Review: I was looking for a decent, relatively low-priced boombox for my bedroom, and I ended up buying a CFDS22. The unit is nicely designed. The controls are easy to use, and very straightforward. At the time I bought it, having the 0-10 keys to go to a specific track with 1 touch seemed like an unnecessary novelty, but if you like programming your music selections, you'll really love it. The cd component has a full range of programming options. You can select random play, or program specific tracks with or without the random play option. The CD player will play just about anything. I haven't had a problem with CD-Rs, and it plays all but the most scratched up disks (which I couldn't get to play on any of my other players either). The tape deck, like most boombox tape decks, isn't the greatest, but it will enable you to make a decent cassette tape from a CD, if you want to make copies for the car, for example. The cassette tape controls aren't electronic, but the power to the deck is, which allows synchronous recording of cds when the 'record' button is pushed on the cassette deck. I found the sound quality from CDs to be above average for a boombox model in this price range. If you're looking for an inexpensive stereo to suit a small room, I would definately recommend it.

Summary: disappointed in Sony
Review: Last year I bought two boomboxes from Amazon and they were fabulous. This year I decided to try the sony cfds22. I wanted black but they only had the silver left. I asked and was assured they were the same. I bought the unit based on the glowing customer review. Well I was wrong. I think it might be a product control issue as I am usually very pleased with sony products. Nevertheless my mega bass would turn off on its own and there was continual static whether I was playing the cd, tape or the radio. Perhaps there are some units out there that are great but I was not lucky enough to get one. Back to the POst office to ship this back.

Review: this skips more than a peppy schoolgirl who is high on pot. i hope i proved my point there. the sound is also awful, and it eats your batteries like a peppy schoolgirl eats candy. i hope i proved my point there. don't buy this, or any sony product for that matter, unless you can grow your own money and waste it
