Summary: The CD lid that did not work
Review: This is the first time that I have ever bought something on line and I have to say that I was very excited to watch my order being processed on line and being able to follow it step by step only made me even more excited. I couldn't wait to get my new boombox. I never buy something without touching and hearing what it sounds like but I said what the heck. The day it got here I opened the box, read the directions quickly and plugged it in. The radio and sound were great but when I tried to open the CD lid to my biggest disappointment it did not open. I put a piece of tape on the lid and pulled up only to find that the spring that opens the lid underneath was broken. Usally when I buy something from a store I take it back to get another one or trade it for something else. Well this time I'm stuck with the time and cost of sending it back and waiting for who knows how long to get it back and what happens if I get another broken one? I think that the time, the cost of sending it back and the disappointment was too much for me to ever buy ANYTHING on line ever again. Ever heard of burn me once shame on you, burn me twice shame on me? Well one burn was one too many, see it, touch it, listen to it, and if you like it buy it at a store. You will save yourself a lot of grief instead of a few bucks, so which one do you choose?

Review: Very disappointed no on/off on the remote. Also would have been nice to switch between CD/Tuner/Tape functions from a distance. The Tuner display is very hard to read. Should have been lighted. NOW THE GOOD NEWS!! Nothing has broken - everything works fine. Excellent sound quality for a portable unit. Even the old mono tapes sound great. I could go on but will stop here with a pat on my back for making such a good choice. Until something goes wrong, very highly recommended.

Review: What a sound this boombox makes. Especially if you first listen to any other boombox in any shop and than turn on this awesome piece. A very impressive bass and still high clarity for voice. If you like this agressive design, you will not be disappointed by the aggressive sound. Hear, hear Philips, good job, the best sound in this price category.
