Summary: Great System for the Bucks!
Review: I have had one of these for a couple of years, and I love it. I used to work as a hi-fi salesman during the 80s, so I am rather picky. This unit plays pretty loud, and the sound can be shaped quite a bit with the EQ and the presets. I mostly use it to play CD's, even the ones I record on my TEAC CD recorder. The cassette works fine; I have not used the radio much. If it had an input jack, I would use it in my living room and pipe my VCR and DVD through it. I will be sad when it eventually croaks.

Review: I just got this product after going to the store and testing out many differnt boom boxs.... The sound quality is great (though it would be nice if the bass could be a little stronger. But, hey, it beat out all the others I tested). Some very nice features are the manuel eqalizer and the alarm timer (I can now wake up to my favorite cd!). The manuel is very well written. It's easy to follow and get around. Even has some maintenance tips for keeping your player in good condition. ^_^

It's to bad that there is not a picture of the unite! It's great looking. ...

Summary: Not a bad boombox
Review: Over the years, I have gone through various boomboxes. Most of them were Sony (with a couple of Panasonic boomboxes). Of alll the portable stereos I owned, so far the CFDZ500 from Sony is my favorite. It took me awhile to fool around with the equalizers to get the right sound I am looking for however the stereo has a much better sound than my previous boomboxes that I have owned. Being the "genius" that I am, accidently broke the antenna on the stereo a long time ago but surprisingly enough I am still able to listen to the radio but it is rare because there isn't anything worth listening to on the radio anymore. My last Sony boombox, the tape player broke which I found to be frustrating since I like to listen to some of my old tapes and make mix tapes every now and then. On the CFDZ500, the cassette player still works in the three years I have owned it. 99% of the time, my cds play effortlessly but every now and then the cd player will skip or show the message "no disc" when there is a disc in the cd player but that is rare. Overall I am quite satisfied with this boombox. Granted I would like to have a boombox that is able to hold more than one disc, but the CFDZ500 does nicely.

Summary: Not CD-R or CD-RW
Review: this always skips, or doesn't work with CD-R's. I ruined the CD when i tried to use it, the first one i used skipped, and jumped ahead randomly. Thats bad for $80eOB
