Summary: Weak MP3
Review: Just wanted to let you know that at least for mine, the LCD segments keep "burning out". It's getting harder and harder to read the display. Right now the "F" in "FM" just shows the horizontal components. Other key segments are out making it hard to decipher the track names.

Summary: Nice little player.
Review: Sony did a good job with this little player. I've owned it for two years, and this is what I think about it.

CD Player - 4 It works well. The only problem I've had is it would take a while to read CDs (especially MP3s).

Radio - 5 Crystal clear sound. Actually, I live about 15 miles away from metro Tucson, so this little player does a great job as far as reception goes.

Tape - 4 I do give it credit for it's sound. The recording, hmm... I wish it could record stuff you said into it.

Equalizer/Bass Boost - 5 It's does a great job controling bass and treble. No compliants.

Sleep - ? Never used it yet.

Ease Of Use/Design - 3 Have to say, it's ease of use is good. It's design different story. Even looking at it from amazon.com, it looks hard to use.

Overall - 4.2 It's a good little player. The price is a little high, but it's all worth it.

Summary: Plays MP3s Well
Review: The best thing about this is that it plays MP3s. We had no issues playing CD-Rs with over 200 MP3s. We also use this as a MP3 player for our stereo. You simply run a cable (not included) from the headphone jack into a line in on your stereo. With the included remote control you can relax on the couch while skipping through over 200 of your favorite tunes.

It would nice if the sound on the "boombox" had a bit more punch to it, but overall, the sound is fine for indoor use.

Summary: MP3's save the day when radio reception is out.
Review: The CFDS20CP does a fine job in a smaller work area but you won't be happy in a large space or outdoors. Though the "pre-set" mixer is good, a little more personal control with the bass or treble would be nice also a "mute" on the remote.
I'm new to MP3's but the first one I burned held 91 songs and kept me entertained for hours at work. Most of the new (smaller) MP3 playing boom boxes don't have a cassette but this Sony does which is a plus.
Pre-set radio stations, good reception on both FM & AM, sleep timer, remote, CD's,
CD-R's, MP3's, cassettes, I have to say ... it is a good deal.

Summary: GREAT VALUE!
Review: This is a GREAT product when you consider what you paid. My portable MP3-CD player cost about as much and has much less to offer.

Just keep in mind; this is a portable tabletop stereo. It is great for smaller rooms like a home office or a bedroom. If you're looking for an earth-shaking, high fidelity boom box, you'll likely be disappointed. But if you're looking for a lightweight, portable stereo that has CD, CD-R, CD-RW & MP3 capability, a digitized AM-FM stereo tuner & cassette with decent sound and all at a relatively inexpensive price, this is definitely the ticket. The sleep timer and the remote are definite plusses too.

Summary: Sony's MP3 capability falls flat
Review: This is a nice looking unit with good sound and what I especially liked was the sleep timer. I listen to old time radio MP3 CD's when I go to bed and thought this unit was too good to be true. It was! The MP3 capability sucks. Evidentally it will only play MP3 files burned at certain bit rates. Most of my MP3 CD's would not play with this unit but all play on a much cheaper unit. The sleep timer was the most important feature to me, but this unit is a loser because the MP3 capability falls flat!

Summary: Weak MP3
Review: This is one of the few boomboxes that will play MP3 files on CD-R or CD-RW. The trouble is that some files will play and others won't. The display simply will say "NOT MP3" and won't play the track. Other files play fine. Other than that very major flaw, it's a decent boombox considering the price.

Summary: Loved It Until It Broke
Review: This was a great player until it stopped working. After having it for about six months, CDs stopped playing in it. The same No Disc error others have seen had struck. I contacted Sony to get it repaired or replaced. They would not replace it but said they could repair it for $77 plus shipping. So if you buy it, maybe you'll get lucky and yours will work without a problem for longer than six months, but when it breaks don't expect any help from Sony.

Summary: I paid more, but...
Review: Very nice bedside system. For the price you cannot go wrong with this. MP3 playback is hot, put well over 200 songs on 1 CD, that's like having a 15+ disk CD changer. The sound is very high quality for the size. The only downside, which doesn't effect my rating of this product is there is no clock. If you are looking for a clock radio, this is not it of course.
