Rating: Summary: Worth it! Review: I did some checking on the cables and against the best advice I bought a cheap firewire cable on an auction site for $5/- including shipping.
Bad mistake! I could only use the cable once to do a data transfer from my new HC-40 camcorder (4-4 pin). On my next attempt the cable got stuck while sliding into the port. The next time I tried one of the pins got bent permanently. I tried the other end and had the same problem. Apparently, the pins sit loosely in the connector and get pushed out of alignment when you slide it in. A friend of mine had the same problem with a similar cable.
We later bought a monster cable and never had this problem inspite of using the cable regularly. Also, heard that the firewire cables at RadioShack are made by Monster for them, this is a good option too. The price is similar to here.
