Rating: Summary: Compatible with XP Review: Even though it doesn't say it, this product is 100% compatible with Windows XP. XP will detect it and install the driver. No need to install the driver from the floppy. It's as fast as an onboard IDE.
Rating: Summary: Ultimate performance and improvement in my computer speed Review: I ordered this product because I did nto want to upgrade my desktop with all new mobo and stuff. Bought a 200GB HD during Thanksgiving for only 40 bucks and was not able to be detected by my Win ME/Trigent Cognac mobo (HP XG838 machine. ) Added this card and now motherboard recognizes the HD with proper size.
When I got this card its firmware was already latest. Installed WinXP Pro and now my 800MHz celeron/256MB Machine boots in less than 1 minute. It was a good buy for just 30 dolllars and also got my points with Amzon visa card. I certainly recommend this product who are still using old machines and want to put high capacity drives.
Rating: Summary: Works great! Review: The package arrived before I thought it would and it works the way it is supposed to. I was pleased with how the card was packaged. Over all a good experience.
Rating: Summary: excellent accessory to make your computer faster Review: This card needs to be used with an ATA-100 hard drive. buy a drive with 7200 RPM. This will outperform SCSI drives for single user systems (like the ones people have at home).
Rating: Summary: Doesn't deliver Review: Word of warning: If you're using any SATA HDs or trying to hook up a DVD-RW, don't get this card. I was trying to simultaneously install a new IDE 80GB HD and a DVD-RW, and had to get this card because I already had 2 CD drives and a Zip drive taking up all the IDE channels on my motherboard, plus my primary drive was a SATA Raid. The card will install flawlessly on an XP machine, but XP will hang on bootup when attaching a DVD-RW. I tried multiple configurations with this card and ultimately could not get my setup to work. I was also trying to install the 80 GB HD on the card, and if you have SATA HD (like I do), then you have to do some serious motherboard BIOS tweaking before the PC will even boot up. It keeps trying to boot straight to the empty drive. Nothing that I tried attaching to this card would work. I'm planning to return it and go with an ATA 133 card with XP specific drivers.
