Review: Easy to install and worked the first time. This is the ATA adapter to buy if you want to add more drives and/or break the 137GB barrier. As a bonus it supports ATA-133, the highest speed version of EIDE, but is compatible with 100/66/33 drives as well (most disk drives are 100 MHz, Maxtor being an exception at 133 MHz). This card allows you to use one channel for 133MHz and another channel for 100MHz drives (up to 2 drives per channel). Nice! Until Serial ATA disk drives drop further in price, this is the way to easily and cost effectively add more (and large) hard drives to your system.

Summary: Incompatible with Compaq Presario Desktop
Review: I bought this card to add disk controller channels to my 5 year old Compaq Presario (500 MHz Athlon) desktop. Instructions were simple enough. As stated in the directions, the computer recognized the card and recognized the drives that were attached to the card (DVD ROM and CD burner) but then the computer would not boot. It just sat at the Compaq splash screen forever. If the card was installed, but the drives were not connected, it recognized the card, noted that there were no drives connected and still would not boot. I tried moving the card to every PCI slot in the computer (five of them) with the same results. There seems to be a compatibility issue with this card and the Compaq motherboard.

Review: I bought this several months ago when I scavenged a CD and HD out my old computer to put into my new one, and discovered I had run out of IDE channels. Installation of the card is a snap under WinXP. Stick the card in, tell Windows where to find the drivers when it detects the hardware, reboot once the drivers are installed and you're up and running with capacity for 4 more IDE devices (as long as you've got the bays to hold them) for not a lot of money. Total installation time for me was about 10 minutes.

Review: I purchased this Ultra ATA/133 controller card to access a new 160 GB hard drive. As recommended I installed the controller card and turned on the computer. Windows XP would not boot up. According to SIIG technicians, there is likely a compatibility problem between the controller card and my Compaq Presario 7AP140 and/or Windows XP. Double check compatibility issues before installing this card!
