Summary: Do NOT buy this card!
Review: I agree with the previous review. I tried this card on 4 different machines and only got it to work on one. I used the "updated" software on the Hauppauge website, which has not been updated since the card came out.
I say I got it to work, but the program crashes after a few minutes and quite often takes WinXP down with it, no way to recover but manually turn the machine off and restart it. I have emailed Hauppauge support 5 times and have received no replies except the standard "received your email, please wait for a response" reply.
I have since bought the dtvsolution MyHD card. It works perfectly. Hauppauge has lost me as a customer, this IS the worst card and software ever produced!!!

Review: I had a Hauppauge WinTV-GO for a while, and LOVED it, it worked very well, and I never had any trouble. I saw the WinTV-HD and thought it would be a great upgrade to my system at the time (a 1.0 GHz AMD Athlon-based computer w/ Windows XP), so I purchased it. I had nothing but trouble getting the card to work and when it did work it would lock the system up frequently (Even with the most up-to-date drivers, and software). I have since tried the Hauppauge card in two other computers, one a 2.0 GHz Intel P4 computer and finally in my current computer, a 2.8 GHz Intel (HT) P4 and I have never got the card to work reliably. I have emailed Hauppauge's tech support many times and they continually give me the same response, which doesn't work (Even though I told them it didn't work.) I have up and put my WinTV-GO back in. If you are looking for an HD PC-TV card, do not buy this one, it's a piece of junk. I will never buy another piece of Hauppauge hardware again. ATTN: Hauppauge, how about helping your customers when they have problems, and maybe supporting the products you actively sell!

Review: I have a somewhat bizarre story. I saw the product on their website, and called early this year (2004) about it. I was told it wasn't going to be available for a couple of months. I thought that meant it was a brand new card. I guess it only meant that it was out of stock. So, I called back a few months later, and was told it was available then, so I bought it. I had a lot of problems with it, but I was thinking I got a brand new card and therefore I just needed to wait for them to get the software ironed out. So, I've been checking their site, waiting for updated software and never found any.
Now I find out the card is discontinued. Rather than getting one of the first ones, I now see that I got one of the last dregs. And as such, there is no support for it. Boy was I taken.

Summary: Got it to work after some hacks
Review: I've experienced similar problems voiced by the previous two reviewers. However, I found a solution to my WinTV-HD card. The problem is Hauppauge placed too small a heatsink on the decoder chip. If I run the card in HDTV mode for more than 30 minutes, the chip would overheat bringing down my whole computer system. When I placed my finger on the decoder chip, it was searing hot. So I twisted the stock passive heatsink off the decoder chip and placed a chipset cooler heatsink that had a fan on it and hooked it up. Viola! Problem solved! Now I watch 1080i HDTV programming on my 19" LCD monitor and am enjoying every minute of it. When I get my Samsung 63" DLP projection TV, I am going to hook this card to it for a complete multimedia home solution. I still have misgivings with the software driver support, though. I wish Hauppauge would update it for new OS's like XP. Also, those third party recording programs from Beyond TV and WinDVD don't seem to support this board.
