Summary: A great card
Review: I really do not understand why people are having so many problems with this card. My system specs are as follows:

Pentium 4, 1.7 Ghz
256 mb RAM (soon to be 512)
ATI Radeon 9700 Pro
Sound Blaser Audigy 2 card
5.1 Surround Sound Logitech Speakers
Windows XP Professional

Now, from day one, this card installed extremely smoothly and I have never had a problem with it since. I have never gotten lock ups when running applications even for a long period of time, and there were no slowdowns during my games.

Secondly, I have experienced no problems whatsoever with the drivers supplied on ATI's website. The website is very easy to navigate and so simple a child could do it. I downloaded the drivers and installed them, which slightly boosts the performance of the card even more. I do not know why people have been giving this driver (there's only one simple download!) such bad reviews, because it seems to be a very good one to me.

Yes, I have noticed a great deal of performance increase overall on my system since installing the card. Everything runs smoother and a lot faster ever since I installed this one. Games are now quicker than ever, giving you an advantage online because you will have less lag to contend with. Even with the settings cranked up on my games, I hardly receive any lag whatsoever (though my cable internet service gets cranky at times!)

Why upgrade your graphics card? Overall, I personally found that upgrading my card caused a greater increase in performance than any other upgrade (RAM, CD Rom drives, etc.) However, I do want to caution everyone who wants to buy this card. I do suspect it is created for high end systems, and if your computer is a dinosaur, don't even touch this card or you'll have problems. Go with the GeForce 4 in that case.

For those of you who do have problems, that is a shame, but again, I guess it depends on the person. I am very experienced now at taking apart my computer, and again I say this: the installation could not have been easier and more painless.

Strangely, and conveniently, the Radeon 9700 pro is actually a bit smaller than the GeForce 4 Ti4600 that I had installed previously (a good card in itself, but I wanted to go further up the ladder). This creates a bit more room in my Dimension 8100 computer.

Lastly, connecting to the internal power supply should not be a hassle if your computer was made within the last 2 or 3 years. The Dell Dimension 8100 is not exactly the newest model, but I seem to have more than an ample power supply, and despite having only 4x AGP, this card still runs great (I can only imagine how great it would be with 8x!).

Advice: Talk to an expert before assuming you know everything..and put aside your ego and let someone else install it if compatability concerns you. :)

Summary: THIS THING IS INCREDIBLE!
Review: I used to own the video card that WAS the top of the line NVDIA GEFORCE 4 ti4600, yet, once I got my ATI RADEON 9700 PRO it's 30-50% faster in every game I try! In UT2K3 today, I Have everything cranked at max in the settings/advanced options including Resolution, 8X antilaising and 16X asotropic filtering, still no lagg and it runs beatifully!(My T3 connection 2 da internet also helps ^_^), 75FPS average! This is the ULTIMATE VIDEO CARD AND ONCE THEY RELEASE DIRECT X 9.0a this will be even better!

Summary: Great performance, great warranty service
Review: I was quite dismayed when the 9700 pro card I spent 300 clams on died after 6.5 months, especially when I saw that I would have to deal directly with the vendor. However ATI's policy is that any recent products don't even require proof of date purchased to be under warranty. I sent the card in with a description (cost about 15 to mail) and two weeks later I got a brand new one! Awesome. They just got a loyal customer. Also in the box was a little piece of paper saying that this card is under waranty for 5 years after the original one was bought.

As for performance, I can't complain there either. This card allowed me to push Warcraft 3 up to a resolution that was too small to use on my 21' monitor. Things just move a lot faster too, things like maximizing a huge Visio doc or something while I have a lot of things going on in the background. I'm sure I could hit the limit of this card if I tried but I don't play the most hardcore games around graphics-wise.

I haven't run into any stability issues aside from the untimely death of my card. In other words my Win2k box doesn't crash with this, never has. The <insert dirty adjective> drivers that ATI was famous for haven't been an issue for me either.

Summary: Nothing but trouble
Review: I've had nothing but problems with this card since the day my brand new computer shipped with it. I won't go into the problems i had initially with this card but lets just say i had to press the power button on my monitor every 5 minutes just to see a picture. I had to ship my computer back to the company that i purchased it from where they did a number of hotfixes. I got it back, and at least this time i could see my desktop. Well, lets try a game, i thought to myself. I put Max Payne in with glorious anticipation, thinking everything has been taken care of. I fondly remembered, not long ago, playing on my p3 450 with a GeForce 2 and how much fun it was. Sure there was a lot of slow down, but it looked great and i had a blast playing it. Well 10 minutes into the game and things look great, i couldn't be happier. The game freezes. On a good day i can play maybe 30 minutes without a lockup. Oh but it's not just Max Payne that locks up or flat out crashes, Black and White, Giants Citizen Kabuto, Everquest, Rogue Spear and most recently Half-life. Initially with half-life, specifically Counter-Strike, the worst problem i would encounter would be columns of white lines running vertically up and down my screen. If i remember correctly the last time i had this problem was before i downloaded and installed the Cat3.2 drivers. Well the Cat3.2 drivers have gotten rid of the occasional white lines that had plagued me, but instead the game just crashes. So i thought to myself one night. Gee, maybe the card has some sort of issue with my mainboard. I have a Shuttle AS45GTR. I visited their website looked around and decided to download their newest sis AGP driver, as well as their lastest BIOS version. I thought this may do the trick because listed in the BIOS version history there was a fix for - 2.Fixed ATI 8x AGP Run 3DWinbench issue. (ATI vendor ID: 1002 R300 dev ID:4E44. That's got to be it! I thought. 20 minutes later after i was confidently running around the world of everquest happily slaughtering a pack of cougers, Bam- crash. Earlier this morning i was on an ASUS message board and noticed many posts with questions dealing with Radeon 9700 Pro issues fixes. It appears i'm not the only one out there with a problem, And i doubt the 3.3 drivers will fix a damn thing. I don't care if it's one of the fastest cards on earth, it could summon the ghost of Jesus Christ for all i care, if i can't play games without crashes or lock-ups, it ain't worth a dime. Did Radeon design this to only work on specific Intel based chipsets, cause it sure as hell don't work on an SIS 648 based board. I will wait patiently for the next batch of drivers, and if those fail i would look for the newest offering Nvidia has to offer. Never had a problem with my voodoo 3, or my GeForce 2, but this Radeon card sure through one hell of a curve at my patience.

Summary: Definately recommended
Review: I've had this card for over 6 months and I've always kept my drivers up to date and have had no problems at all. I play all the latest games and currently am addicted to Star Wars Galaxies and it runs it well on Windows XP and 2000.

I've used ATI for years but this is by far their best product.

Review: IF you want the max performance, you should
1. buy a new PC and tell the company to install it, Dell is a good choice ( Wha tI did)
2. Take it to a PC shop
If you do this, you will definitely get good performance.(I never got a crash).

Review: It beat the geforce 4 4600 so bad it wasnt even funny! it was ahead by 30~50% in EVERY benchmark i did. the scores it got also stayed consistent as the processing got harder (higher res, more aa) which tells me that the radeon 9700 could have done much better, but the cpu wasnt giving it enough power! i have a athlon xp 2400+ and the radeon is so good, my cpu is the bottleneck! if you want something that will constantly amaze you, get this card. now. you wont regret it, trust me, i would have paid a lot more for this card, thats how much i like it
Make sure you unistall old drivers, befrore installing this card, especially from Nivida, couse you might find problems!

Review: Listen boy IT looks like you have old case, and old power supply thats why your computer is not stable.
I have this card running for 4 months now and I have not seen any problems.
The truth is you must get 350Watts power supply NOT 200 or 250Watts !
ATI recomand MINIMUM 300Watts power supply, do some resarch.
