Summary: MCSE, A+ Certified
Review: I have assembled over 1000 computers since 1991 and I have compared the Voodoo 3000 to the RIVA TNT2 and in all 3d games I tried (Quake, Unreal and Ultima IX)the Glide was a better performer, however I recomend attaching a fan to the Voodoo as it does run hot, and has dropped out on me until I did.

Summary: Worth all of the money
Review: I like the Voodoo3 card, not only because of it's performance, but that I got Unreal, a coupon for Unreal tournament ed. for free and need for Speed III included in the box with the card. If you want to test the superiority of the card, before you install it, play NFSIII on your old card and then after you pop in the V3 card, try it out. I had an nVidia card before, and the 3dfx card blew it away. Definitely worth the money.

Summary: video capturing
Review: I noticed using 3 different softwares for video capturing that it dropped too many frames. The picture came out choppy not synchronizing with the audio.

Summary: Installation can be rough
Review: I suppose this is an OK card for the money, but but beware if you're buying it to replace any other Voodoo-based card. Getting the thing to run correctly is a nightmare -- you'll probably need to fiddle with your registry and settings some. I think I'd rather change the manifold on my car than install another one of these things. Also, you won't notice dramatic improvement over a Voodoo 2. I'd probably take it back if I weren't so tired of dinking around with my machine. The only reason to get one is if you want one card for both 2D and 3D use -- at least you free up a PCI slot.

Summary: HOLY SCHNIKEYS!!!
Review: I was a bit skeptical when I put my money down on this product, but believe me, the results are worth it. My computer came pre-intstalled with an ATI Rage Pro video card which I was perfectly content with. I never had any real problems and all the games looked good to me. That was until I bought a game that would not work without a 3D accelerator, so that was when I bought the Voodoo 3. I was worried that I was wasting my money just to use it to play one stinking game, but I was proved wrong. After I went through the simple installation process when I got home, I popped in the game that wouldn't previously work, but sure enough, it worked, and it worked great. Then I performed a little test. I put in the game NHL 99 which I played a lot with my old card and tryed it with my Voodoo. I could not believe what I saw. The players were infinitely sharper, their reflections now appeared crystal clear on the ice as opposed to cheesy shadows before, the detail of the arena could have been confused with a real life image of an arena, and my hockey players moved as if they had suddenly come to life. It was all as if this was a real hockey game and minurature players where being payed to live and play in my computer. I then put in game after game that I had played before and each time I grew even more satisfied that I had chosen the Voodoo 3 3000. If you are looking for a good price, easy installation, and superior graphics, look no further than the 3DFX Voodoo.

Summary: Fast, compatible and cheap!
Review: I've had my Voodoo 3 3000 AGP for more than a year now, and I'm very satisfied with it.

Right now it's overklocked from 166 to 190Mhz, and it runs just great, especially when playing games at 800x600, it just screams.

It's compatibility is impressing. It's very rare to see a game created after 1998 that won't work with the Voodoo3. Doesn't matter if it's glide, OpenGL or Direct3D. The drivers are updated every once in a while and are well written.

The pricetag on this baby is a happy sight for a lot of wannabe-gamers that can't afford to cough up over $250 for a graphics card.

If you're on a tight budget and want excellent performance at resolutions up to 1024x728, you can't go wrong here.

This could be to 3Dfx what the Volvo Amazon was to Volvo...people are so satisfied with it that they didn't want to/need to upgrade.

Summary: The REAL world, with the power of Voodoo
Review: I've used TNT2 Ultra's and geFORCE256 video cards, both are fast, (the geFORCE is a lot faster in 3dWinbench) but Voodoo is the way to go for gaming! FPS in Unreal Tournament running 10x7 with 16Bit color are about the same for all three cards. Everyone talks about 32Bit color with the nVidia cards, but come on, how many games on the market now use 32Bit color. Not many, so your paying extra $$ for something you can't use. The big difference is textures, the Voodoo cards (Even two Voodoo 2's in SLI) blow all other cards away when running Glide! Take a look at your game boxes, chances are all of them support Glide, this means that the Voodoo cards are the way to go. I would buy a 3rd party fan to attach to the Voodoo's heatsink, they get VERY HOT, and the colder you can run your card (and system) the better performance you get! If you want the best, go with a Voodoo 3 2k for now and wait until March when the Voodoo 4 and Voodoo 5's are scheduled to be released and go for the Voodoo 5 6000 with 4 processors (4 way SLI) and 128MB of RAM! The 6000 should be the baddest card around if the PC Mags are right, but start saving your money now it will put a dent in your wallet if the pricing in the Game mags are right. I've been a big fan of the Voodoo cards ever since I bought my first Voodoo2 card. 3dfx continues a great product with the Voodoo 3 line. There is a good reason why your only options in most games are software, Direct3d and GLIDE! Anyway, hope this helps.

Summary: Be sure that you have an extra cooling fan inside !!
Review: If you are a tech savvy lives in a hot climate area and the most of your PCI slots are already occupied, please make sure that you have an extra cooling fan inside the machine to blow out the heat.
The card emits significant heat and it does not come along with attached cooling fan. Attached static cooler is not enough.
My card has broken after nine months.

Summary: Speedy
Review: In brief, the Voodoo3 is a 2D/3D Voodoo2, but faster. It doesn't do anything particularly novel (there's a tv output, but no texture compression or bump-mapping, for example), but it's extremely quick for the money, and sure to become cheaper as the Voodoo5 gains a foothold. It's a better bet than the 2000 - it's faster, has a TV-out (which you will probably never use, but it's nice to know that you can), and isn't much more expensive. Comparing it with the 3500 is tricky, however - whilst the 3500 is fractionally quicker, it's sold more on its multimedia capabilities. The lack of 32-bit colour is a shame - in the games that support it, the visual gains are noticeable, but it hits performance, and is only essential if you're playing the 32-bit only 'Delta Force 2'. As others have noted, it gets quite warm in operation, but you don't really need a fan - just ensure that your PCI cards are distanced from the AGP socket.
