Summary: Beware Diamond's lack of support!
Review: Being a Diamond video and audio card owner I feel it is my duty to warn potential buyers of their products away. I now own a Diamond Monster Fusion Video card and a Diamond Monster MX300 sound card. At one time Diamond was a reputable name to me, until recently. It seems Diamond gives up driver support for their products after less than a year. For example, I bought the Monster Fusion in December of 1998 when it was only 2 to 3 months old. The last driver update was around March of 1999. I bought the MX300 a couple months later, and the last driver update was around the same time, Feb of 1999. Support for me has come in the form of searching the web for the chip makers reference drivers which are up to date. Visit various message boards and you will see the same discontent with Diamond/S3. So buyer, beware and I hope your ready to buy a new card in about a year.

Summary: Bad if you want it for PC games
Review: Do not buy it I repeat do not buy it if you want to run graphic intense video games. I did and have to reboot my computer several time if runnung halflife or Quake or for that matter any game especially if using high res.

If you buy it might regret it later.

Summary: Good budget card.. not great... but good
Review: I bought this card with my new P3 733 and abit se6 motherboard. It works great Quake 3, Homeworld, and Half-life, but took a little tweaking to run properly in opengl but nothing serious. I have had problems running Microsoft flight simulator and Unreal Tournament which is tragic becaue UT is supose to look great! I have noticed that new drivers have stoped being released. S3 must not have too much confidence in the card cause back in august they were tradeing viper z200's for older v770's that use a nvidia chipset. To get things to work S3 had to sacrifice some features to compete with geforce. This is a good card if you are on a buget and like to tweak your brains out, but I think it would be better if you spent $20 extra for a new nvidia geforce II mx.

Summary: Not quite a ge-force
Review: i just bought a 900mhz amd athalon processor w/ 128 mega bytes of ram and a Diamond Z200 Viper II 3D AGP Graphics Card. Now this card works great except for when im playing mech warrior 4 then it jerks a tiny bit every once and awhile. but if ur looking for a cheap price and quality go with this card.

Summary: Not the best for CAD
Review: I was looking for a mid priced graphics accelerator for 3D CAD modelling in Solid Edge and SolidWorks. The Viper II was buggy with both programs, requiring new driver upgrades. It still does not have all the kinks out. When it is happy, it runs great: fast, smooth pans and zooms. When it locks, it locks hard. Every other driver upgrade from Diamond makes it better or worse. I'm still looking for the right driver to make it stable in all applications.

Summary: Not worth it...
Review: I was very disappointed with the performance of this card. It worked fine with the games that were shipped along with it, but beyond those games this card is good for nothing. Poor options, many textures were distorted and discolored. If you were planning on upgrading from the Diamond Viper to this, take my advice and stick with what you have.

Summary: It simply does not work correctly
Review: I was very unhappy with the performance of this product. I have used Diamonds products for years, i.e. Monster 3D, Monster 3D II, Megamonster SLI, etc. which are all first rate products, but the Viper II was plagued with troubles. After upgrading the Bios, and installing all drivers and updates I still got graphical distortion on direct3d games and lock ups on OpenGl. OpenGl games looked decent, but not compared to how they should look given Diamonds bragging. I returned this card for a refund and will wait for Voodoo6.
