Summary: Worst card of the year! along with tech support!
Review: Boot up all i see are blocks. PNY customer service is even worse, i had RMA'ed the card TWICE already, and yes, you guessed it, today i got my THIRD RMA back, and yep, sure enough, it did the same thing, i call it block syndrome. I've tried using the card on my other three computers , same result, even tried changing through four diffrent monitors, PNY keeps making me send it back, wasting my money on postage. DO NOT BUY THIS CARD, HUGE MISTAKE IF YOU DO. You have been warned. i know people with the 4600 had the same problem, PNY is completely unreliable, plus i n\NEVER overclock. Looks like i'll be going with ATI again next time.PNY...NEVER AGAIN!

Summary: This vidcard should never have been released
Review: I bought it and attempted to run it on three motherboards,
an ABIT KR7A-133R with an Athlon XP1700 proc; a Gigabyte GA8ITX3
running a P4/1800 proc; and a Gigabyte GA7-VAXP running an
Athlon XP2100+ proc. On the Abit/athlon combo, the card would
only run in 640x480 mode at 16 color depth, resolutely refusing
to load to windows if any higher mode was attempted. It also
would refuse to boot Mandrake Linux's system disks. In the
Gigabyte/P4 combo, booting and running were normal. However, in
the Gigabyte/Athlon2100+ combo, other ideosyncrasies surfaced.
The Gigabyte/Athlon2100+ seemed to bring out the worst and darkest side of this card. On the inside page of the included
manual that came with the card was a statement regarding the
rights of movie studios superseding citizens civil rights in
the conduct of their daily lives. It did'nt seem relevant for
this kind of statement, not on the outside of the box, to be
in this place ambushing unsuspecting customers after they had
bought the thing, and just how was a video card going to

digital rights manage anyway, I thought! Really it is simple.
The card walks on upper memory areas of your computer with its
'firmware' (bios). In the old days, this would be considered
an ill behaving program. The result is that you are allowed
at most one ms-dos window within windows, and often not even
that. Most times if you try to get into ms-dos, the system
will simply crash. Same thing if you try to use scandiskw. As
this is build on ms-dos's 'scandisk' program, this fails as
well. If you own and have installed a cd writer, the firmware
detect this and locks up if any kind of commercial cd is inserted
into that drive and autorun is engaged. The lockup requires
that you hard switch off your computer. If you do not own a zip
strip, you may have to pull the machine's plug out of the wall.
No driver or memory tweaks or config.sys statements will help it. Oddly, DVD ram drives are unnoticed by this card's firmware
and are allowed to autorun CD's un-molested. Possibly the
cards design supervisors judged that few if any buyers of this
card would own such a drive?
There are no heat sinks on the memory chips of the card, but
the chips seem not to overheat. Components are on both sides
of the card, and the main RAMDAC is fanned and sinked fairly
well. Other manufacturers do not pull fast ones on customers
like PNY does. The windows used were both win98
and WinME. The linux used was S.u.S.E. ver 8.0. Linux
was accessable with varying degrees of accessability. As Linux
is better at detecting hardware than windows, I believe them when SuSE identified the PNY card as a 'HiPoint' card.

Summary: How can you tell if the card is good if it doesn't even work
Review: I bought my new computer with this card a little more than 3 months ago. Things started well until recently that my Windows XP became unstable, often restarting itself. The error message said that the card may cause this problem and asked me to download the latest driver. After I did that, the problem became worse and, my computer screen became funny with colorful dots all over the place. Finally, I called the tech support from the computer manufacture and was told that other users had experieced the similar problem. I was then instructed to uninstall the card from my computer and sent it back for a replacement. Now I am waiting for it to arrive.

Summary: A great card for the price (..that I paid)
Review: I bought this card last year to replace my VisionTek Geoforce2 card;...I have had 0(Zero) problems with it. It performs wonderfully on my computer and has not had a problem with any game so far (over 50). I've updated the drivers once last year with no ill effects and I have rebuilt my computer and it still works fine. Why are some people complaining and having so much trouble?? Beats me.

Summary: Buy PNY video cards at your own risk!
Review: I do not have this specific model but I have one of its siblings, Verto GeForce4 Ti 4200 with 64MB video card. After four months after I got it, it just stopped working. I have been trying for a week to communicate with PNY to get their much-boasted 'lifetime replacement warranty' service but couldn't get a hold of them. First of all, their customer service does not have any email addresses. Only phone line always leads to a voice mail. I left six voice mails for last six days and they're just not getting back. Their customer service is just unacceptable.

If you're considering any of PNY video cards, be aware that you'll be left alone with your fried card when something bad happens to your card.

Summary: There is nothing wrong with this card
Review: I love how people blame a card instead of their old outdated computers. I have XP, the card installed perfectly, on a clean install and on a upgrade install. There were no problems. If you install in non certified drivers, of course here are going to be poblems. I can play Unreal 2 with this card at 1600X1200 with 4X FSAA with norton system work running in the background. It is a grat card if you are a power user, and it isn't too loud. The only card that I think is better is the ATI RADEON 9700 PRO.
If you want a good card but are not willing to pay the near [money] for a GeForce FX get this one and you will be set for some time

Summary: How can you tell if the card is good if it doesn't even work
Review: I purchased this card last week and have yet to get it to work. My PC meets all the required specs, but XP will not recognize the card. Installing the drivers that come with the card, or downloading the latest drivers from nvidia, only make things worse, locking up XP on the splash screen. It would be nice if PNY tech support could help me out, but you can not get in touch with them, or should I say, "him". If you do make it through to their tech support voice mail, and there is actually room for you to leave a message, the tech support states that you have "reached pny tech support, but I'm not here right now". After speaking to everyone else, (microsoft, ASUS, etc), everyone was of the opinion that the card was faulty. I returned it for a new one, but found that one to have the same problems. After speaking with a professional tech from another non pny source, he believes that the installed memory on the card is bad..I think he is right. Do I try a third card, or give up while I still have some hair left? Oh, also, emailing pny tech support also went nowhere. After writing a similar message as the one I'm leaving here, I was unable to send the email without a proper serial number. I entered every number I could find on the card, or in the installation guide, and notta. They tell you where to find the number, but nothing I entered would register, and I was unable to send an email. I'm not saying that this card might not scream once you get it up and running, but expect problems, and expect no help from PNY.

Summary: Simply the best!!!
Review: I was luckily able to buy this card after receiving a gift certificate for my birthday back in Jan. I am extremely happy I waited to use it because I am far from disappointed in this card!!! Quite simply, it screams!!! I can run Jedi Knight II at full resolution, with everything max-ed out, without a problem. Part of this is also due to the fact that I recently upgraded my five year old computer - which amounted to pratically a full rebuild. Still, I am glad I waited for this card because it makes my computer fly and it makes the games that much more exciting and immersive. If you can afford this card, get it!! Also, PNY has a full lifetime hardware warranty so if it [goes] out on you ever, you can get it replaced. Spend the money on this now and you won't have to upgrade your graphics for at least 3 years.

For those of you who can't afford this, wait for the comparable Ti 4200 - slated for release at the end of April 2002. It will be well worth the money.
