Summary: Diamond Viper Video Card
Review: I bought this card back in 1999 for my gaming system running Windows 95. At the time it was a very good card for the price I paid. I still use the card on my system running Windows 98, which I just upgrade to Windows 2000...Diamond is now Digital Networks North America, Inc. and no longer supports this video card, so don't expect the new Windows systems to support this card.

Summary: Good card in '99: no longer supported
Review: I had a Viper V770 (non ultra) put in my machine when it was built in 1999. It was a good card then. Diamond sold it's graphics card devision, and this card has no factory support for windows XP. Only generic TNT2 chipset drivers are available for XP.

Review: I upgraded from the Riva TNT card and found this to be an excellent card. I was able to play Unreal and Wheel of Time with no problems, even though these two games are optimized for 3DFX cards. The only problem I have encountered is my fan has quit. Unreal 2 will be released soon, and I will need a G-Force card anyway. Call it good timing, I guess.

Summary: Wow! This came with My DELL system!!!
Review: I was quite impressed with the Diamond Viper's Capabilities. It was surprisingly good at running games. I had this for about two years and was very happy with the card. It played Unreal Tournament, Quake 3 Arena, and any other game I shoved in it's face. Unreal Tournament used to be my favorite computer game, and I used to have one of those...herculese thingys. Those [were bad] and could barely run UT. I could run UT with the viper with no problem.. it made the game run about 20 times faster than it used to, and the graphics were greatly improved.

I think this card greatly expands on background. Which is the only problem with this card. I think that background is great.. close up though.. in games like Counter Strike and Quake 3, it looked like it was a beautiful day outside and it was ready to turn into jolly land. I then realized that this was the [bad] side of this wonderful card. Quake 3's landscapes looked as peaceful as hawaii. This isn't terrible, for the fact that you CAN sort of fix this in the game options...

although, the card has great performance, you are better off with the diamond viper card if you have a computer that can't run games like Deus Ex or any of the brand new computer games... or if you design graphics, but you should get this if you want to play those awesome games like CS and UT and Quake 3. If first person shooters are your game, this is your card!

This card is great, but it does not give the close up affect like it's older card. In other words, this is a complete clone of it's older brother, except for some small and minor changes it made due to speed and background affect. Because of this, I got the 3dfx Voodoo 5, which has great upclose affect...I am left here with a great card and no tech support of any kind.

So, if you have a pentium 3 500mhz or lower, stick with the viper. Anyways, you can only run so much as to a 1 ghz computer. Get the viper if you have that kind of computer and love those older games like CS, UT, and Q3. There will be a better viper card out there in a few months.. so wait for the newer one...

If you have a good computer (Pentium 3 700mhz or higher) and have a craving for all great new and old computer games, and have [money] burning your pocket, and you can't handle that GEForce 3 card..., get the Voodoo. And you should get it quick!... HURRY UP AND GET IT...BECAUSE OF NVIDA...

Summary: This card is OLD!!!
Review: There are many newer cards that are much faster and much cheaper. This one is ancient in the computer world. Check out the VGA charts at Tom's Hardware (a review site) and you will not even find this card on the map: ...

Summary: This is an excellent card.
Review: This is a very very good card. IT is fast, provides excellent Direct 3d and open GL support. The only drawback with this card is that Voodoo3 supports higher frame-rates. BUT...here is a tip: put this card in with two voodoo2 cards in an SLI config, this will give you the best gaming rig around.
