Rating: Summary: Great for the price Review: The Gamepad Pro is a good choice for any gamer who is used to the layout of the standard Playstation controller. The buttons and directional pad have about the same feel as the original Gravis Gamepad, (There is some room for improvement there) but for the price of the gamepad the overall quality is excellent. I have owned mine for at least two years (I use it frequently) and it still works like new. Before you buy the Gravis Gamepad Pro USB- 1. Make sure you have an open USB port! 2. If you mainly play racing/simulation games, you should consider an analog controller.
Rating: Summary: Great controller (Mac user) Review: The Gamepad Pro works smoothly with the Macintosh, and is a breeze to set up and configure with games. Anyone familiar with the Playstation controller will be perfectly comfortable with this one. For sports games like Madden 2000, it's a must. And certainly it goes hand in hand with the Playstation emulator Virtual Game Station. It's design is sturdy and the software is seamless. And for its price, you really can't go wrong.
Rating: Summary: The worst directional pad I've ever used Review: The PC format has some great joysticks, but it lags far behind consoles when it comes to gamepads. The Gravis GamePad Pro is, obviously, virutally identical to the original PlayStation controller, but the quality is much worse for several reasons. At the top of the list is the terrible D-pad, which makes it extremely difficult to press straight up, down, left, or right; the pad always reads your input as a diagonal direction. This flaw makes something as simple as entering your name to be a major chore, and during gameplay its effects can range from annoying to downright deadly. The face action buttons are very stiff and must be compressed too far, while the shoulder buttons make a loud and distracting click every time you press them down. On the positive side, the start and select buttons are quite nice, but really, who cares? The best part about this controller is the overall shape and ergonomic feel, but that's just because the PlayStation controller before it had a nice design. Maybe I'm just spoiled by Nintendo's great controllers, but in my opinion the Gravis GamePad Pro just doesn't cut the mustard. Sometimes I wonder if its designer ever logged some serious playing time with it before sending it off to market.
Rating: Summary: Stops working in Windows 2000 Review: The USB Gravis Gamepad Pro stops working after a while (Windows 2000 claims I have a gamepad pro plugged in... except that the buttons don't work). There doesn't seem to be a solution, except for a half-baked one which is to reboot the computer when it happens, so I don't recommend this product. I replaced the Gravis with a USB Belkin Nostromo N45, which works like a champ. I also have a Logitech Wingman Action, which also works very well.

Rating: Summary: Excellent Value Review: This controller is very good for what it is. If you need a usb controller for NES, SNES, or Playstation emulation, this is a good one to get. I bought two of them for NES/SNES emulation and I have no major complaints. This pad comes with a small joystick you can screw into the d-pad which is awkward and you'll never want to use. The only problem is that when you have the stick unscrewed, the center of the d-pad has a threaded metallic hole which can slightly irritate your thumb after a few hours of playing. Despite this minor flaw, while it's not the greatest controller you can buy, at this price it's an excellent value.
Rating: Summary: Makes a good paperweight? Nah, not even. Review: This controller is, hands-down, worthless. It has the following problems: 1. Your hands WILL ache. I have used old NES, Genesis, PS1 and PS2 controllers and - gasp - even an N64 controller. This thing is worse. My hands hurt after a few hours and get cramped. Very bad. 2. Horrific directional pad. The pad here is vastly inferior to any of the pads mentioned above. It seems to me that even after calibrating it in many games, the control pad is just so loose that sometimes you end up pressing directions you don't want to. that's not too bad in free-movement, immersive environments where one misstep is usually not too bad - but forget about doing your dragon punch in Street Fighter, or your precision high-speed maneuvers in Puzzle Fighter. 3. No analog sticks. Speaks for itself. There are way, WAY better controllers out there. If you want something to play console games on an emulator, particularly, avoid this like the plague and get either a PS2 DualShock 2 controller with a USB adapter (I'm still trying to find a good one) or pick out just about anything else. I'd say this thing was useful as a paperweight, but its so light it falls off of my desk every 5 minutes due to the weight of the cord. AWFUL.
Rating: Summary: Garvis Gamepad Pro USB Review: This gamepad gives you the power to play games at another level. There are less buttons to keep track of than on a keyboard so things are easy to control. You can put in a joystick or leave it out. Either way, you have great control.
Rating: Summary: A great gamepad for any sports or action games. Review: This is a must have for anyone who plays sports or action (such as shoot-em-up, or even Tomb Raider) games. The Playstation style is easy to remember and grip, and really helps when you are using Bleem (a Playstation emulator for the PC). I found no problems with installation on my PC or on my iMac, although it is nessicary to install the included drivers (on a CD, but can also be found at C-net's download.com). The only down-side to this product is the included "joystick" add-on. I found it hard to use and unconfortable, expecially for my smaller hands. However, when it is not attached, I can use the gamepad for hours at a time. All in all, if you are looking for a gamepad, this controller has it all.
Rating: Summary: WARNING LABEL Review: This is a warning to all consumers. This product's USB cable contains lead. This is clearly labeled on the back of the box, "Please wash your hands after using this product," but not on this web-site. If you have small children or were planning on giving this to a child, please do not. -- Joseph Hawkins
