Summary: Good pad, could use better software.
Review: I've had this pad for about 2 weeks now. I ignored the bad reviews below because I've used gravis products before. The manual for this is somewhat lacking, which I think is the reason for the bad reviews. The pad didn't ship with windows xp software, so I had to download it from the gravis website...which made me a bit aprehensive. But after downloading the new software (the pad WILL NOT work without it) it's working just fine. The program can be a little confusing at first, but it's actually pretty simple.The pad itself is top notch, the software should be of the same calibre.

Summary: JUNK!!!
Review: If the unit I received is representative of this product this unit should be taken off the market. After you install it, (which, by the way is very annoying due to an extremely overworked installation program) you have to play around with the sensitivity and null zone parameters to get full range of motion on the analog sticks. Getting over this the pad worked good unless you accidently bumped one of the "precision" buttons which will render the stick on that side useless until you notice and hit the button again(after you died on the game). After about 2 months the pad completely died inside before any wear on the outside was noticable. When I uninstalled the software, it stripped away Direct X files that you have to reinstall afterwords as a "thank you" for trying their product. I'll never buy another Gravis product. Invest your money in another gamepad. If you do buy one of these, register it and save the warranty info if you want to go through the trouble of mailing it in to them and getting it fixed or replaced when it burns out. Maybe I just got "a bad one".

Summary: Ergonomically Perfect!
Review: It took me a while to find a gamepad as good as the old N64 one (with the trigger) but eventually I managed to source this fantastic pad! Within a week I had it totally set up perfectly for me. So far I've been playing through HALO with this pad, and have found it to be very responsive and precise. When playing a game, I NEVER have to avert my eyes from the screen - all the controls are exactly where they should be.
I cannot play games with the keyboard/mouse controls due to an arthritic condition - and it just FEELS too awkward anyway. It's such a pity that "certain game engines" simply do not provide a gamepad option. I think this is losing THEM a lot of custom. Many people, like myself, still prefer the superior ergonomics of gamepads, yet cannot play so many games. Surely this is WRONG! I own a top end PC, yet games like DOOM 3 etc. are unplayable with a gamepad. It's their loss.
With the Eliminator Aftershock gamepad I feel totally at one with the game (if they support it that is!). The 2 joysticks give you complete control over movement, and with the extra feature of "precision" buttons, you can make aiming extremely accurate. The pad also "feels natural" when you hold it - with the buttons placed perfectly for fast weapon changes etc.
All in all, by far the best pad on the market! Buy one!

Summary: Gravis Has Done It Again...
Review: Okay, first of all I will be honest. The installation for this is a bit tidious, and you will have to be patient, especially if you are running it under Windows 2000, other than that, the gamepad is fantastic. No matter what people say, the D-pad is fine, as are the analogue sticks. Gravis always make exceptional products that will last you a lifetime. The precision buttons can be annoying, but they can also be useful if used in the right situation.
The only problem (I find) is when I want to use the Freestyle on NBA Live 2003, I use the Right Analogue stick, and it can be difficult to execute the Freestyle moves with the stick and then press one of the main buttons to perform a dunk.
Other than that, the after shock is a brilliant gamepad and I suggest you buy it.

Review: There are only two things I would have to complain about in this pad. One would be that the two "percision" buttons always get in the way when i'm using the joystick(s). I accidently hit the percision button, and my controls go dull, and I have to hit it again to regain full control. The second complaint I have, is that the rumble software doesn't work with Windows 2000. I hope it works with WinXP. Other than those two issues, I have no other problems with it. The cord is long enough, there aren't too many buttons to confuse a person while playing a game, and the 4 buttons on the top (for the index fingers) are sized so that they can be distinguished from each other only by touch.

Summary: Comfortable but not worth full price
Review: this game pad is a great pad, but its definetly not worth full price , if you can get it for [price]to [price] dollars off the price take it, the pad is really comfortable but the runble effects half the time do not work correctly, in my use of it I have not seen a game that supports rumble effects that this pad uses them correctly, I give this a 3 meaning its not a bad pad but not a great one either ...

Summary: Good for analog, but my d-pad doesn't seem to work.
Review: This is a good gamepad if you are looking to use the analog control. I bought this and plugged it in immediatly and tried to play Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 2 (tm) with it, and the d-pad wouldn't function correctly. Its great for racing games and stuff like that, but if you want to use the d-pad, get a different controller with a d-pad that waorks.

Review: Well I'm on my second one now and I've given up. The D-pad has not worked correctly on either. If you don't mind that and you like spending excessive amounts of time learning their retarded software this is the controller for you. Junk.
