Summary: for the PRICE the size and storage can't be beat!!!
Review: A lot of my friends have bought iPods. That is all well and good, but they were spending $300 for a 5GB, and upward from that, even now, with the iPods, the new 10GB is $300. Well, 300 bucks is hard to come by nowadays, especially if you're in highschool, you don't have that much money to spare. So i checked out the other options, and found the Creative Zen. I got it for $300- with 20GB on it!!! Back then, the 20gb iPod was $500, and I wasn't going to spend another 200 bucks for a slightly smaller and slightly cooler looking product. This thing is great, I've filled it up with over 2,000 songs, and I still have another 10GB to go, that's crazy! Fits right in my pocket, just slightly larger than the iPod, and I didn't have to buy a fire wire card or anything, the usb connection was perfect, taking seconds to transfer songs. There is also a 60GB Zen out there now for only $400! Now that is a bargain, if you are a true music fan, you'd go for the zen, who needs brick attack and a spin wheel for hundreds more dollars anyway.

Summary: Great product, great price
Review: - A bit larger than the iPod.
- Same irreplaceable battery issue as iPod.
- Relatively fast file transfer speed (10GB in about an hour via USB 1.1).
- Great battery life.
- Can create playlists on the fly (on the player itself)
- Great screen. Intuitive menus.
- Only downsides that I have found are the Zen's worthless included headphones, the Creative Playcenter software (it is terrible - load songs with MusicMatch and import to Playcenter for transfer) and the fact that you cannot randomly play all songs (you have to set up a playlist of all songs to do this).

Summary: B
Review: Let me start by saying that this is a great player for the money. I did a lot of ressearch and went back and forth between the Zen and the iPod. Now that I have it, I feel I made the right choice. Good volume levels, easy to read display, and huge memory are my favorite things about it. The software it comes with is ok, but I would urge people to download Media Jukebox to tag all of your tracks as opposed to Creative's software. The transfer rate of songs is awesome! The headphones sound great but are designed for people with small heads.

Summary: Tech support is the worst
Review: I got the Zen firewire all is good for about four month the pow the adudio is gone, Call up tech support. I know it only has a 3 month warranty and i agreed to it when a got it thinking its still cheeaper than the ipod by [$$$] bucks, it worked ok. So i call knowing its out of warranty figuring i'll pay to have it fixed they are afterall the manufacturer. Nope all they do is change batteries thats all the support for a [$$$] dollar piece of equipment that completely s[tin]ks.

So save your money a bit longer and get the ipod.

Summary: Crashed My Computer
Review: This is a great sounding, feature filled jukebox. The headphones are great sounding but are the most uncomfortable headphones I've ever used. Not only did they give me a headache because they were too tight (you can not adjust them) but they scratched my ears to no end. Lastly, and worst of all, after a couple of months of usage suddenly for no apparent reason the software that came with it started "crashing" my computer. I could never fix this so I sold the thing. If you buy one try it out first.

Summary: Comparison of the Zen to the Ipod and Archos
Review: I have OWNED an Archos, Ipod and now a Zen.

The Archos Studio 20GB was a nice unit.

Advantages: Price is right.
Disadvantages: Slightly large size, fair display, poor sound quality, had to scroll through 100s of albums (No easy eay to search). USB (Slower data transfer)

Due to the poor sound quality of the Archos I upgraded to an Ipod 20GB.

Advantages: Small size. Easy to navigate, great display. Very good sound quality. Fast data transfer (Firewire)
Disadvantages: Software DOES NOT work. Musicmatch is horrible at best. I downloaded Ephpod which is only slighly better. After NUMEROUS problems with making "Playlists" the Ipod had difficulty finding songs with missing MP3 tags. I was not about to fix ID tags on 2,000 songs. Check the Ipod forums for all of the inherent problems with this POS. Remote is required since you must remove it from the case to see the display or access the controls. Only has preset EQ. You MUST use the LOUSY software and be connected to the computer to make ANY changes (Rename, delete etc.)

Got rid of the Ipod after a week for a Zen 20GB.

Advantages: Price is right. Good sound quality. Custom equalizer.
Disadvantages: Display is OK but not as nice as Ipod.

So far the Zen appears to be the best bargain / value.

Summary: Bad software, awful tech support
Review: Bought this product all excited that it was cheaper than Ipod. 3 days after purchase, the unit would not power up or respond to reset buttons. I returned it to Creative ASAP. They did not test it for any problems for 4 weeks, until I threatened to demand a refund. It was returned to me the next day mysteriously and seemed to work fine. Except now there was a major software problem. The tech support does not answer emails - sometimes they even bounce back to sender. The phone techs were unhelpful, recommending that I reinstall Windows, which was not the answer I was looking for.

In all, it is a very nice looking product, and the sound quality seems pretty good, but the software is a real disaster, and the tech support is worse. I've switched to IPod, and I can't in good conscience recommend that anyone buy this product.

Summary: Good value for dollar but lacks replaceable battery
Review: Pros: much less expensive than a similar capacity iPod; good sound quality at low-to-moderate sound volume; lightweight
Issues: Li-Ion battery is not replaceable; the headphones included are cheap; as volume increases toward medium-high to high, there is much more noise.

Summary: Amazing Product
Review: I spent a couple weeks researching and agonizing over which Jukebox MP3 player to purchase. I made the right decision with the Nomad Zen. I already had my MP3 library organized with track tags in MusicMatch, so loading my MP3s to the Nomad was a snap. I installed the software that came with the Nomad, initiated the transfer of files, and went to bed. I had purchased a USB 2.0 card to install in my computer, but had not installed it yet. When I woke up the next morning, all files had transfered sucessfully over my standard USB 1.1 connection. Player works great. Crisp sound with a variety of effects and enhancements. In the couple of weeks I've been using it, I've only had to reset it twice with no problem. Battery life is as advertised.
