Rating: Summary: This Grass is Pretty Green Too Review: ..I purchased the TSS-1W from Amazon a few months back. I was unhappy with the "guitar" sound I was getting through them because I record my own music. So, I sold them ... . I was never UNhappy with them when music and movies were concerned. And looking back, I can remember myself saying "WOW .. I have NEVER heard music sound like that before" when I used the digital input. So ... looking for that greener grass ... I spent [a lot] on the Logitech Z-680's. These are reported in many reviews as "the greatest 5.1 speakers we have ever heard" ... or ... "In this wrap-up of all computer speakers, we find the Logitech Z-680's the undisputed kings" Well .. it ain't so, Joe. These Yamaha speakers are absolutely OUTSTANDING. Any price. I paid over three times the amount for "the best computer speakers money can buy". And they weren't. These Yamahas are far cleaner, crisper and have better sound field definition. They have an incredible "tight" sound. The subwoofer probably isn't the best subwoofer for RAP music but for any other type of music or games or movies, it's absolutely fine. This isn't a comment that is saying "these speakers are just as good as the expensive ones" or "good speakers for the money". This is a comment that is saying "I have owned both and these sets of speakers and the Yamaha TSS-1W is the clearly SUPERIOR set of speakers". Cost or no cost, it doesn't matter. These are just better. Period. ..
Rating: Summary: Great deal, great performance, great finish Review: First off. This set-up is a good price. It works well in my room when used with my computer. In my small room, watching movies is a charm. I've never had a distort or any kind of unpleasant sound come from the speakers, and I pump them loud for movies. I really haven't noticed anything bad at all with this system, except that the main unit is not as fancy as the RP-U200, and that no control of any sort was included! That can get annoying when the room is packed with people. However, this system is great. It looks are far superior when compared to Creative's systems and its performance is tough to beat.
Rating: Summary: Good but has compatibility problems Review: Good speaker for the price, but it has trouble with sound blaster audigy sound cards. I have yet to get the digital output to work with a soundblaster audigy gamer.
Rating: Summary: Nice speakers Review: great sound, solid bass. I havn't even turned these up past the half way point on the nob and I'm still concerned about disturbing the neighbors. I don't know about using them as your living room speakers but for a bedroom they're way more than enough.
Rating: Summary: Good Sound Quality, Great Features, Extremely Cost-effective Review: I bought a yamaha tss-1 6 set speaker system for my smaller bedroom a year ago off of amazon.com for [dollar amount]. The total RMS power on this system is 48 watts (the low wattage is cost-effective for smaller rooms). The sound quality is good, though there is slight distortion at higher volume levels. The features are excellent - dolby 5.1, prologic, dts decoding, front panel headphone jack, and most importantly the variety of inputs. I was able to connect my computer through coaxial digital spdif input (5.1 digital), my nomad jukebox through the pc speaker cables to get 4.1 analog audio, and my xbox/ps2/dvd player through the optical digital input. I was surpsised that all the cables were included (most speaker systems don't come with optical/coxial cables). The computer in my bedroom is setup right next to the TV, thus the positioning of the system works well both ways - I am able to play and watch movies on my xbox & ps2, get digital audio from my computer, and 4.1 audio off of my jukebox with the touch of the input button on the amplifier. (the system does not come with a remote control, and if you decide to use it in a small room, you wouldn't need one). This speaker system is ideal for smaller rooms such as dorm rooms - it does not have the power to supply rich audio to larger living rooms (I cannot stress this enough). I wouldn't spend over [price] - you might as well get a strictly computer audio 5.1 system for [dollar amount] and a splitter for your tv. If you want a surround soution for a living room, I strongly recommend the Logitech Z680 ... - which has a lot more power (505 watts) and excellent, rich, flawless sound quality. In my opinion, these computer audio - home theater audio hybrid speaker systems will eventually replace traditional home theater audio systems. A couple of more inputs would make them all the more appealing!
Rating: Summary: Don't Waste Your Money Review: I bought these speakers a year and one month ago. To begin with they offered a rebate...I sent all of the requested stuff in for the rebate, but I photocopied everything first (thanks to warnings from others). Yet a few weeks after sending in the required items, I received a postcard stating I did not send in the UPC code. The card gave a email address to respond to if it there was an error, but there was NO PHONE NUMBER TO CALL! I emailed the address and never received any response. They even gave a time limit of when I NEEDED to respond by, yet they did not respond back to me! Needless to say I gave up and enjoyed the use of these speakers...until last week. The amplifier/control unit decided to stop working on the speaker outputs. The headphone jack still works. Of course this is ONE MONTH PAST THE WARRANTY AND THEY WILL NOT REPAIR IT! DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY ON THESE!!!!!!!!!!

Rating: Summary: Great little system. Review: I bought this mainly to be a 5.1 system for my XBox and DVD (One in the same). It is sounds great. The speakers have a very rich sound for being only 40W. They work great in my little apartment, and I can have good surround sound and not wake up my sleeping kids or have neighbors pounding on the walls. If I cranked I think I could get some good shaking out of it, but with playing Halo, Ghost Recon and Splinter Cell. The sound is great. Same for Lord of the Rings and Harry Potter. They all sound great. My 3 year-old asks to turn it on when she watches Monsters, Inc.
