Summary: Very Good, Solid Set of 5.1s
Review: It has been about 2 weeks since the Z-680's arrived at my door and I a can truly say that these are THE set of surround speakers to purchase if you're looking to give your pc audio a face-lift.

Pros
1) Very powerful, very loud, very clear. I'm not kidding when I suggest you secure anything hanging on your walls in the room the speakers are in, and each room adjacent to it. You can literally feel the low frequencies of the sub rippling through your body at mid-high levels. The speakers are also adjustable for wall mounting and/or for pointing down if they are set up above you.

2) Every input you need is included -coax, fiber-optic, and 3 minijacks on the back of the receiver unit, as well as a single minijack on the front, for simple stereo. A headphone jack is also on the front of the unit. All three connection options on the back provide 5.1 capability, so you could connect up to 3 different sources, all taking advantage of the 5.1 surround.

3) Remote...Although not much to look at, functionally it does everything the receiver does, albeit from anywhere in the room. It emulates the receiver exactly, so there is nothing extra apart from the convenience. The only things negative about it is that you must point it directly at the receiver and there is a slight lag.

Cons
1) The bass is too "boomy". The best way I could describe the bass is too direct, and not roomy or spaced-out enough even at very low volumes. The sub doesn't represent all the lower frequencies equally.

2) The satellites represent highs very well and the lower mids are satisfactory, but the upper mids are under-presented. I found the only thing lacking in my music were the voices. The satellites also take on a few more of the subs frequencies than I would like although the cross-over can be fixed in your sound cards control panel.

All withstanding, this is a VERY GOOD system, especially for the price and the few problems it has are expected for a system in this price range. For the money, you cannot purchase a better set of speakers, and I believe these are currently the BEST set you can get for your pc without going in to the high end home theater category. Summary: Great speakers for the price. Great speakers period.
Review: These are without a doubt the best speakers you can buy for your computer for the price. Plenty of power, they never distort, even at blistering volume levels. The mids and highs are especially clear. The bass is heavy and clear and is also very sharp even at high levels. They play music perfectly, but they're probably even more impressive when hooked up to the dvd player (you can hook it up to the dvd and computer at the same time). The surround sound is awesome. Don't have a single complaint. You won't be dissapointed!

Summary: Perfect PC upgrade
Review: This is the first and only system I have ever bought, and I can tell you its worth every penny I spent on it. This thing is now selling every where else for about [$$$], and even at that price it would be worth it, and now that its selling at [$$$] I would buy it in a heart beat. I am telling you that you will be blow away the first time you ever hook this thing up. The speakers not only look great, but sound great, they are a perfect fit for any ones computer. Although The wireing can be a little tricky and you may need to go buy some editional wires, that will still should not turn you away from buying this. I am giving this a perfect 5 out of 5 because every friend I have brought over has ran home and went online there selves to figure how they can buy this thing. Every song you play will be like listening to a whole 'nother thing and after 2 months of owning it, I still haven't gotten used to the window shakin' effects it has on the whole house when i pump it all the way up. My advise for you is to find any way you can to get the [$$$] because I am sure you will be pleased with your purchase when this thing shows up at your door step.

Review: I was in the market for a surround sound system, and found out about the logitech z680's. I previously had a Cyber Acoustics CA-5001 5.1 system. 100 watts and not bad for a sub [this] system. But i wanted more bang for my buck. So i ordered the z680's. They have turned out to be worth thier weight in gold. After about giving myself a hernia from setting them up (i've never felt a sub that weighed that much!!!!), i turned 'em on, and decided to try my THX Bass certification test music. at 1/2 power, it hurts to be in the same room. That much power and i haven't even tweaked the bass or treble settings yet. I've never turned them up past half because even at 1/4 a mile away, the neigbhors called to complain.

made it worth my day to recieve that call. I'd recommend these to ANYONE who wants CLEAR, LOUD sound. (and it must have been an early release of them that had a hissing problem i heard about. mine have never hissed).

Summary: Wow! Talk about Value for Money.
Review: I've heard these speakers at my local computer store. These are the best sounding among all the brands offered. Klipsch didn't sound as good and Creative Labs' isn't even an option.
The control center is the best design so far. The display and power button emit a cool blue light that is nice to see at night. Every component looks very sturdy. There are three possible connections - Coax, Optical, mini. You can use all for three different sources. Just press a button from the control center to indicate what source you would like to use.

How good are these speakers? I own a couple. It may not compare to my JBL HT system which are THX-certified for true home theater use, but these cost thousands. With the price you're paying for the Logitech, it's a steal. I have Harman/Kardon Sound Sticks for my Mac and these [are unacceptable] especially for the price. I had Sony Dream System DAV-C990 which I returned after two weeks because the speakers are not only dull, they seriously need some equalization.

Now for the cons:
1. The speaker cords are too thin and short.
2. The cord from the control center to the bass module is way too short and the manual warns against extending it. I want my bass in the corner of the room, and the control beside my PC.
3. The remote needs aesthetic improvement.

These speakers have good, powerful bass right out of the box. Bass lovers will adore these for their games and music. Just reduce the bass from the control center if it annoys you.

Best of all - these are THX-certified. You can't beat the price and quality. Even Apple has adapted these speakers for their upcoming G5 desktops. And if someone knows good design, these people do.

Enjoy!

Summary: great sound but so ugly!
Review: These speakers are ugly as sin. They are an eyesore. I don't mind how much space they take up, but i just wish they were good looking. I'm a designer so this is very important to me! Oh yes, the sound quality. I should probably touch on that... they are the best computer speakers I've heard, hands down. I tested out a whole bunch before settling on these. The little control station is easy to use, and the system as a whole was easy to set up. Optical audio and multiple inputs are also a great feature, and Logitech (since when did they make speakers?) seemed to do just about everything right with this set. I recommend these speakers if you own an ugly computer like a Dell. I recommend these speakers if you have a beautiful computer like a Mac, but just be prepaired because they're nasty looking. If they looked as good as the H/K SoundSticks, they would have easily earned 5 stars.

Summary: Upgrade from Klipsch 2v400
Review: I have had my klipsch 2v400's for about three years now, and they have never broken on me. I recently decided to make the move to 5.1, mostly for dvd and entertainment purposes. I was at first interested by the klipsch 5.1's, but those were extremely expensive. I knew that some sources cited that the z680's were better than the klipsches, but i hardly believed them. Taking into consideration the price difference, i bought the z680s and installed them. The front right channel completely mirrored the front left, so i returned the set, but after listening to music to compare the sound quality. The treble on the z680's is far superior than my old klipsches (i don't think klipsch changed the satellites, only the subwoofer for their 5.1 system), but the bass wasn't as clear. Nothing can beat klipsch for bass, but the logitech's don't sound too bad. This is the best bang for the buck, and if you are interested in having good bass as well as awesome treble, i suggest getting the klipsch SWS subwoofer, that will attach to any system.

Summary: Simply Amazing
Review: These speakers are fantastic. The only problem with them is trying to find the right spot to put the surround sound, which shouldn't be too difficult. There are a few different settings that are on the control box of the speakers for movies or music or just 6 channel direct. I watched a few DVDs with these speakers on the movie mode and it felt like I was at the movie theater but I was in the comfort of my own home. There is no doubt that these speakers are #1 right now for gaming. I'm a big gamer and play RPGs and FPS alike. You can hear the sounds coming from all around you. Not only will these speakers make the experience much better for gaming, they will make you a better gamer too! In certain games like Counter-Strike I was able to hear footsteps around me much easier and shooting too so I knew where to go to get to them easier. If you watch movies or play any games on your computer and you are serious about it, these speakers are a must.
