Summary: Good sound, then the amp broke
Review: Like a lot of other people I've seen, my amplifier just stopped working one day. Occasionally it will kick back in, but its pretty rare. They were good speakers for the 2 years i had them, but then just died.

Summary: Great product for a great price
Review: Looking for a great deal on some speakers? Then look no further my friend (o mi amigo). If you're looking to fill a small to small-medium size room with sound, then you should look into the Yamaha TSS-1s. I've used mine with a PS2, DVD player, and my computer and haven't had any problems. The speakers are plenty loud for their size and I've never needed to exceed half the volume control. Everything sounds great including the sub. I'm not a huge sound buff, so to me this sounds as good as other speakers that cost 2x to 3x more. I recommend this to anyone that wants to upgrade from [bad] speakers or for anyone that wants to upgrade to 5.1 for the first time. Buy these and save tons of cash! You get a whole lot for a lot less with these awesome speakers.

Summary: Great speakers!! Careful on the rebate
Review: No doubt the speakers sound great(as suggested in the other reviews) but be careful on the rebate! The fine print says 'rebate void after 2 weeks of purchase date'. I lost out coz my speakers were delievered after 2 weeks and the order date was the date I placed the order.

Summary: Rebate Fraud Warning
Review: Please be aware that Yamaha failed to honor my rebate claiming the postmark had been received Jan 3 2003. This would mean that the rebate took more than 3 weeks to be delivered. I smell fraudulent practices. Count me in on a class action suit.

Summary: For the price this system is unbelieveable!
Review: So after picking up a PS2 I realized that I needed a decent set of speakers, but a PS2 is not free so I needed a set of affordable speakers to go with it. I bought this system and I am amazed at how great it performs when playing games or DVDs. The DTS is a also a plus because that could normally raises the cost of a surround sound decoder. The system is not going to blow your walls down, but it will shake your teeth.

Looks great standing next to my PS2 as well!! :)

Summary: It is good, could be better
Review: The sound quality is very good. The sound is clear and loud. I connect it to a DVD player and feel satisfied with the performance. The only problem is there is no remote control.

Summary: Very good quality and price!
Review: The system worked excellently with Creative SBLive Platinum's Optical Out. Gives very good soung equal to expensive Creative's 5.1 and Onkyo Hollywood station. Compact design is great!

Summary: Excellent value for small home theater/game sound system.
Review: The Yamaha TSS system provides is a great value for those looking for a low priced digital theater system for a small apartment.

I've been searching for a dolby digital decoder and speaker system to connect to both my DVD player and my Xbox, without spending buckets of money, or duplicating components I already have. Initally, I bought this item because it was a steal... but it has turned out to fit the bill very nicely.

The system is small and easy to set up. I was up and running within 3 minutes of opening the box.

For the size of my apartment, the sound is rich and robust. The fidelity is excellent, although the low end doesn't quite seem low enough to really thump your chest when DeNiro blows the safe in The Score, or you scrag a baddie in Halo.

On the flip side, the approx. 10" cubed subwoofer is small and conveniently concealed, although it does seems to be a bit more directionally and locationally dependant than a more powerful system.

No complaints about the surround speakers, they produce an impressive amount of sound for being slightly larger than a Rubik's Cube.

The only inconveniences I've found are the lack of remote control (which is echoed in a number of reviews, but... I can [get myself] of the couch to change the volume), and I would like to have a second optical input (I'm having to switch connections between DVD and Xbox, appropriately).

All in all, if you are looking for a good value in a home theater system, and you don't have much space to fill, this system does an excellent job. If you are looking to fill a larger room, or want a _really_ intense experience, I would look for a system with a bit more wattage.

One note...I already have an enormously powerful Denon reciever with even more powerful speakers. And, although it says "Don't do this" prominently on the speakers, box, etc., the outputs to the speakers from the decoder are all RCA type connections. Which I have on the back of my reciever. See where I'm going here? It's just too easy. Maybe next time I'm feeling like gambling I'll see what happens...

Summary: Tss1-B Speaker
Review: These speakers are great! I chose these over the Creative Labs DDT 3500. The Yamaha ones are affordable and the quality of the speakers are great. I am using it on my Computer with SBL Platinum 5.1. Hooking it up with the optical cable from Philips makes it a killer combo. I would recommend these to anyone with this sound card setup.

Summary: DVD sound for your computer
Review: These speakers give you DVD quality for a fraction of the cost. If you can watch DVD movies on your computer, then these are the speakers to get. They have terrific sound and when you hear it, you will shocked on the quality of such great sound.

I highly recommend this product. Happy shopping!
