Review: ok, i'm replacing my old review (dissing the klipsches)-stupid me. I never thought i'd find the money for promedias but i got a pair of 4.1's on sale ...the difference is amazing. loudness & clarity are the main reason I bought the klipsches.i can turn 'em up to deafening volumes & they never distort.what I said about the bass is not really true (at least after hearing the 160 watt sub in my promedias!) the old altec's werked fine for everyday things like music & games.(sold 'em to neighbor & he's in love with 'em) overall a good buy

Summary: good, but not great
Review: These speakers are very nice, but don't get me wrong, they don't have the power of Yamaha Power Cubes. For the average user, they will work great and you will have no complaints. But for the 1 in every 100 they will not have the power and the hissing noise when the volume is cranked will deter them from telling their friends about their new speakers. So if you are an average user that would like a mighty fine peice of equiptment, then these are they way to go but if you are the super music fan then look elsewhere.

Summary: Buyer Beware!!!
Review: These Speakers seem great at first..... I should know I've owned two sets in three years.... The first set I bought ...in early 2000. I moved in 2001 and shortly after moving the Subwoofer went out. The satellites worked, just no bass, since all the bass is channelled through the sub. Ok I then ordered another set from Amazon.com, that set died this weekend. Same thing the Sub is gone. The satellites sound fine. If it was something different I'd see it as a fluke. But it was the same problem both times. Because of this I doubt I ever buy another Altec Lansing product again. When I first heard this set at best buy I was in love they blew away the Cambridge soundworks and boston aqcoustis that were on display at the time. The sound gets alot richer after about two months or so when the speakers get good and broke in. However like most folks I am not made of money and can't afford to buy multimedia speakers every year. I'd recommed either going with Klipsch, my roomate has had his Klipsch for over a year and a half and they rock when combined with an SB Audigy card. Me I think I'm going to try the Logitech Z560 this time around, due to all of the hot reviews I've read and friends have had these since they hit the market. Besides they have had a nice price drop recently too.

Summary: Great speakers...
Review: This are a great system of speakers for computer...sound great specially in a sound blaster 5.1...but in venezuela only cost me 50$

Summary: Great for Games or Music
Review: This deceptively small speaker set has superb sound for the price. The bass on the subwoofer will blow you away for the price you pay. The satellites provide decent surround coverage. At high volumes though the satellites screech. The surround also doesn't work very well with the subwoofer at loud volumes.

All together, a great buy for the gamer or music fan, not able to invest in a bigger speaker set.

Summary: The BEST for the $buck$
Review: This is a great speaker system! I bought it a year ago and is still going great (Speakers are very durible and cords too! - perfect for a dorm). There are few times when I can even play it loud enough to be distorted. If you don't want to spend over $100 get this system and save your money.

A few low points of concern -Cords should be longer for speaker (only 6 of 7 ft) -Sub could be louder at times -If you can spend $130 - $150 you will get a system that blows this away (Altec Lansing ADA305 PowerCube Speaker System) -It does have a bit of hiss when VERY loud

This system has the best value I believe, hey do really want to play music loud enough to start getting complaints anyway? If so, get the Altec Lansing ADA305 PowerCube Speaker System - an amazing system!

Summary: Excellent Value for a small room
Review: This is perfect for the college dorm or small apartment. Good bass, although when watching movies one may need to turn it down in order to avoid distortion. The woofer should be placed in an enclosed area to really maximise its potential.

Speaker cables are problematic as they are not flexible for different layouts. Hiss levels on this speaker setup are also loud for something this small.

Overall, a good economy buy, but don't expect world class sound quality.

Summary: Quality and Value
Review: Want big extravegent sound but don't have the money? Well the ACS-56 PowerPlay speaker system is your answer. In test this system has matched and even beaten the Cmabridge desktop theatre 5.1 2500 speaker system, and at only half the price is affordable by even the most moderate spender. Also Coming from Altec Lansing you know the product is reliable. So I say if you want quality and value buy the ACS-56 PowerPlay system from Altec Lansing.
