Summary: These speakers rock
Review: I already own a set of these speakers and I have to tell you one thing, they pure-T rock. The sub may not look powerful but it rattles the pictures on my wall every time I play music or a game thru them. The highs are crisp and the mids and lows are just majestic. I highly recommed these speakers.

Summary: Excellent!...
Review: This was a sweet speaker system my grandmother bought me this for my birthday because my speakers [stunk] and I'm real big on bass and etc. because I like rap music and I tell you what this is probably one of the best speaker systems I have seen for under 100 dollars I recommend this for anyone who likes a lot of bass and dont want to pay an outragous amount of money.

Summary: OK sound, but there are better ones out there
Review: I got the Altec Lansing ATP3s... at a local computer store and within the same week I also got the Labtec LCS-2422... at a computer show. While the ATP3s sound OK for the price, the Labtecs sound SO MUCH better. Up to mid volume the Altecs sound above average, although kind of dirty. But once you crank the volume up, they just sound horrible.

I do like the volume, bass, and treble knobs on the front of the speaker, and these speakers do look nice. If you don't intend to turn them up real loud, and you find a good deal, these speakers are good enough for many people out there. But IMO, there are much better speakers out there for the money.

Summary: OK
Review: Altec Lansing, in my opinion, does not make very good speakers, even though they are probably the longest lasting computer speaker manufacter. In many of their surround systems like their 4.1 and 5.1 systems, they dont have many options, and sound quality is crummy. The same goes for this rather stylish 2.1 system. These cost as much as the ACS 54's, which are 4.1 systems, but they sound MUCH better.

Being an audiophile, I would not choose these speakers over a set of 5.1 yamahas or klipsch pro medias, but if you have a tight budget, and this is the best u can pack, then by all means, this might be your only choice.

These flat panels are rather stylish, but it does not mean that they have good quality. I found the bass either overpowering the weak satelites, or I could barely hear the bass at all.

Because these speakers do not have surround sound, I do not recommend these speakers for gaming or DVD playing. DVD's should use a system like Klipsch Pro Media or any Yamaha 5.1 system. Same goes for games. This is mainly a budget music speaker system. Not many people exactly want a speaker system for music that you can hear all of the different channels. Although it would be nice, its not what speakers focused on music is made for.

These speakers are supposed to crank loud. They don't. They come almost to par with audio volume. I have to compliment Lansing though because this model happens to be one of the best sounding speaker systems that will not get all distorted at mid-level sound.

If you crank these speakers, they will kill you with all of the static.

All in all, I do not recommend these speakers unless you are on a tight budget, and only want to listen to your MP3 collection without static at low volume levels. Just be forwarned, that these are NOT surround speakers, meaning DVD and Gaming is OUT OF THE QUESTION, and THEY DO NOT CRANK LOUD. IF YOU CRANK THEM, THEY WILL BE DISTORTED. I have to award them with 3 stars because they are a sleek, stylish, and affordable speaker system. But remember, you get what you pay for.

Summary: Good Upgrade
Review: The Altec Lansing ATP3 speakers are a good set to have when you have limited space. Both speakers fit comfortably on either side of the monitor or on an overhead shelf.

The sound quality of the ATP3 is good. The bass and treble compliment each other and neither one drowns out the other. Most importantly this is not a system designed primarily for music so it doesn't overemphasize the background music while playing a game. The upfront sound effects are allowed to dominate during game play.

The ATP3 is a very good upgrade from the usually poor quality factory speakers sold with most computer systems.

Summary: Made For Music, Not Tyrannosaurs
Review: For around [price] street price, these are remarkably good speakers. That would be true even at double the price.

The best feature of the ATP3s is a balanced sound with reasonable lows and clear, distinct highs. For instance, listening to John Coltrane' s "Spiritual" (Live at the Village Vanguard) the cymbal strikes are clear, the sax and clarinet solos are smooth, and the acoustic bass line is unmuddied. The whole effect is brighter and cleaner than from most mid-priced computer speakers, which mostly seem designed to reproduce thudding explosions and Tyrannosaurus stampedes.

The next best feature is the convenient volume, bass, and treble controls on the right satellite. A knob is so much handier than a menu.

Finally, the slim, black satellites are a nice combination of interesting-looking and inconspicuous.

For very high volumes, the ATP3's are not the choice. They wouldn't be loud enough to drive a dance party, for instance. And at high volumes the speakers sound somewhat strained. But for personal music listening, especially if your library includes jazz and classical, these are the best mid-priced speakers I found.

Summary: You Won't Be Dissapointed
Review: Even after reading all of the great reviews, I wanted to hear these speakers for myself. I went to my local Best Buy and was blown away by the sound. I immediately went home to order the set from Amazon.com since the price was much cheaper. This purchase was definitely worth the price--I haven't regretted the purchase for a single second.

Summary: Can't ask for better speakers for the price!
Review: These speakers are GREAT!!! I was looking for a good 2.1 system that was not going to cost a ton of money, but still sounded really good. These speakers are exactly what I was looking for. They have great full bass sounds, as well as sharp and clear mid-range and treble. I am extremely pleased with these speakers, and I would recommend them to anyone. My friend's dad heard them right after I got them, and immediately rushed out to the store to pick them up!

Summary: Great Speakers!
Review: I read a few reviews about the speakers not having enough bass.
After I got them I realized that the person who wrote
that review must be into ghetto music. For most of us with
better taste in music the speakers are a real complement to music, songs, or even movies. I recommend them for anyone looking to purchase speakers in the [money] range.
