Summary: Good for games, so-so for music
Review: I bought these for listening to music and have been disappointed since I first heard them. They make pretty decent game speakers because they handle decent volume without too much distortion, but the sound is too odd for good music speakers. The downward facing midrange speakers make for very uneven sound in the midrange with pronounced peaks around 2kHz (imagine talking into cupped hands). The treble from the 4 drivers is fine; the bass tends towards slight boominess aggravated by a too-high crossover point on the bass control. It seems that the design of these speakers was motivated more by looks than by good sound.

Summary: Great Sound, Loud enough for a room or apartment!
Review: These speakers sound really good! Each desk top speaker has a subwoofer built in which really improves the sound. I havent upgraded my sound card but you can expect stereo quality sound. DVD sounds good! These speakers hurt my ears if I sit at my computer desk and turn them up high. It is great to be able to adjust the bass and treble! I am very happy with this product and think my [money] spent is well worth it!

Summary: Best speakers for <$150
Review: Altec Lansing has done a superb job while designing these fabulous looking speakers to ensure that the treble (high-end frequencies), mid-range and bass are all wonderfully reproduced in harmony without any particular frequency dominating the overall sound. In fact, the overall sound quality of these speakers reminds me very much of my $700 Boston Acoustics speakers for the home theater - that by itself, is a big accomplishment. Moreover, I was pleasantly surprised by the "crisp" treble and the "deep" bass from these speakers, with some sound distortion though (as one would expect) at very high volumes. Bottom line, while you can definitely find PC speakers with more power output than these, what you will be hard pressed to get is the same or better "sound quality" than the Altec Lansing ATP3s. So, unless you really want to "crank-up-the-volume" while listening to music on your PC, you will be ecstatic by purchasing these fabulous looking and sounding speakers from Altec!

Summary: Awsome Speakers!!!!!
Review: My husband and I bought these speakers about a year and half ago. My husband liked how they looked more than anything and we did hear the sound at the store and was happy with it but when we got it home and was able to really hear it... wow, impressive sound and bass!!...At the current price, I am definitely getting a couple more sets for our growing computer family (we now have 3 desktops around the house)! We have moved to a new house since then and our new neighbors could not believe that the booming music they heard coming from our house were these speakers on our computer and they went out and bought their own set!...

Summary: Great Performance
Review: I have used many speakers in my life but this system really packs a punch(not to mention the ease of setting up) The SOUND QUALITY from this Sweet Little system amazes all my friends and co-worker when just hooked to my laptop (Music and DVD's) I HIGHLY RECOMMEND AND IT WILL BE NEXT TO IMPOSSIBLE TO GET MORE BANG FOR YOUR BUCK!

Summary: The product is poorly made.
Review: I've has the ATP3 for little over a month now and the volume controls are already broken. To add insult to injury Altec Lansig tech support demands that I send the system acoss the country to get it repaired. The total cost for shipping such a heavy speaker system is one third of the original cost of the product. The next time I make a speaker purchase. Altec Lansig will not be on my list.

Summary: Great. If you don't pump them too much...
Review: I loved these speakers for about a year and a half, but the satellites just can't take the heat. The sub is da bomb though. Save yourself some trouble and buy and extra set of satellites for when the first set goes out.

Summary: horribly tinny
Review: OK, I'm no audiophile, but these speakers sound pretty awful sitting on my desk at work. If I crank them up, they perform pretty well, and the subwoofer performs admirably at all levels, but I am seriously considering going back to my old ACS295 set--which I only replaced due to a left channel going out). The volume at which I can get away with at work (despite having my own office), is not loud enough to make these enjoyable.
Unfortunately, I based my purchase in part on some of the reviews here on Amazon. I would hesitate recommending these speakers to anyone. I think if they had been designed with the satelite woofers pointing out instead of down, they would sound much better--even if they took up more space.

Summary: GREAT SPEAKERS WITH THE PROPER HARDWARE
Review: I got these speakers along with Creative SB Audigy Live sound card. At first I tried them on my old sound card 128bit, they sounded fine, better than my previous speakers.

But when I connected the new sound card, the speakers amazed me with their sharp crystal sound! They rock! simply rock!

Summary: Great Value
Review: Very well balanced sound, much better than I expected. Speaker placement is critical though... different locations and different angles can make a big difference in the sound.
