Summary: Great sound for the price
Review: I've gone through several sets of low end computer speakers, but they all sound like you get what you paid for. I wasn't ready to spend ... for the higher end computer speakers, so I read the reviews and ended up with the Logitech Z-560. I got them home and they sound very good. Compared to a set of high end home theater speakers, they lack some of the depth of sound that you get from the big floor stand speakers, but overall they sound great. There is plenty of power and volume. Anything over 3/4 volume is just too loud for my ears, but this isn't too much for these speakers. Even at almost full volume they sound good, just too loud. They also sound good at very low volume.

One thing a little odd is that they seem to sound richer with the front covers off. The covers pop right off and I'll probably end up listening to them without covers once I get the system set up and stop moving things around so much.

Summary: Logitech z560s get the job done!
Review: While I certainly would not contend to be an audiophile, I am currently pursing degrees in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science and so I do have a reasonable idea of how to grade the z560s performance. As far as I am able to discern, there is no difference in sound quality when I play a CD on these babies with my Turtle Beach Santa Cruz sound card and when I play them on my dad's super expensive Paradigm theater speakers. The z560s produce more than enough sound to fill a dorm room and I haven't experienced any problems with them in the month that I've had them.

Basically, what I'm saying is that for the average person who wants to listen to mp3s or CDs there is no way that you can find the sound quality of these speakers inadequate. If you get these at a reasonable price I think that you would be hard pressed to find a 4.1 system at that price point which could match these speakers in terms of performance.

Summary: Freekin Sweet!!!
Review: Great for if you like music or like to listen to music. The bases unscrew to allow you to mount on a wall without buying a stupid stand. The 3M tape that you remove by pulling it works perfect. I rodded mine out by souldering on new RadioShack Gold plated input lines which made it 5% clearer. Monster Cable for the speakers, 25% clearer. and I took it apart and cliped the wires to the lights for the volume switch. Its just too bright when watching a movie. I am obsesed with having high quality things *cough* toys, and I say good luck to anyone who thinks they have a better system. Oh, and the 5.1 sounds the exact same only more expensive. Same speakers, Same sub, only one more redundant speaker and a fancier looking volume control. Every part is very high quality and built to last, except for the extra base for the volume box. mine has not broken but the one at Best Buy did. Just a caution, don't be throwing it agains a wall. But yeah, at least get the new speaker cables, the wires it comes with are simply pewney. Ohh, and did I mention base? Lets just say you will never wish for more base ever again. Get ready to start gluing the pictures to your walls and make sure your doors are nice and tight. I use these speakers, 19inch monitor, DVD player, CD-RW, AverTV/AM/FM card, Creative Audio Card and Freekin Windows 98! I am set for the rest of my life!

Review: OH MAN....thats all i could say once i heard these speakers....i know there is that 400 dollar 450watt system out now...but this is so much better. you get so much for the price. first off....the subwoofer....188 watts of pure power....even with the bass turned all the way down, it pumps out SOO much bass. sound is so clear. the only bad thing about it...its pretty heavy. im in college so i have to move them around to and from my home. but i think its worth it. possibly the best speakers out in the market right now. you'd be making a huge mistake if you didn't buy them. a huuge mistake.

Summary: Falls short of expectations
Review: I thought it was pretty decent until I owned for 12 days short of year and the unit just shut off and died while I was playing a video game. Now I have to deal with shipping it back to the manufacturer and waiting an indefinite amount of time for them to ship it back. YES!
I should have:
A. Bought something else entirely.
OR
B. Paid the extra money for a product replacement plan knowing this wasn't going to be reliable.

LEARN FROM MY MISTAKE.

Summary: Ehh..... it works.
Review: I've just joined the Z560 club, they survived the infamous 10 minute blowout rate. I have turned my windows master to 20-30%, the wav, line in and all that stuff I had to turn all the way up. These speakers are just too quiet, until I turn it up to 20-30% i can't even hear people talk when playing a DVD. For now, the speakers are at 50%, bass turned all the way down. The system does sound decent, but only when i bump it up to 75% on the speakers, this is supposedly the killer threshold that blows everyone's subs up. It looks like it's doing ok, heat sink is not too warm. My roommate has a set of Monsoon mm2000, he abuses them with things turned way high all the time. These Z560 cannot even compete with the output levels of the mm2000. Although if you are willing to try, they are supposed to be a few dB higher than the mm2000. I have no idea what everyone is talking about "loud" about these speakers, they produce so little sound my old ... cambridges 2.1 can out blast these so far. I refuse to turn it all the way up because I really hate dealing with manufacturers. I would recommend these however, if you are gentle to them, they will work. They give a lot of feedback at higher volumes, which is why I am looking for a way to get more volume out of them at lower levels. The sounds is clear and filling, the bass is punchy, this is because the actual speakers used are overpowered. This means they use speakers at lower wattage rating than the specs, the specs are for rms ratings which are for quick bursts and not continuous play. I am no sound expert, just your normal college kid, so go easy on me if you disagree. The quality of the whole system seems sturdy, the control center knobs are loose and wiggly, but not a big deal. The main thing I really odn't like is the system has terrible volume setting balances, at lower volumes, you have no bass at all. I like a system that keeps the sound consistant when changing volumes, it only makes sense to have that. No one would want to constantly calibrate the settings to get the preferred sound. Anyway, I hope they last for years, although I haven't heard of anyone's set surviving for more than a year. If they pop i hope they pop within 30 days so I can get my money back. It feels nice to have new speakers though, so I am going to play with them some more. Have fun kids.

Summary: Overall great sound for a fantastic price
Review: I purchased my Z-560's just over a year ago from now and they're still kicking stong, however I have found some problems with them. I live in an apartment building , so I had to modify my setup. First off, I had the sub-woofer off of the floor which did the trick. After finding I just ran out of room, the sub had to go in the corner of the room, the problem was that it was surrounded by walls. This made the bass totally overwhelm the highs. Now even after I configured the room with the sub in the open on the floor, I still find myself leaving the bass off on the sub. Many times while 2 rooms away, I still felt and everything around me vibrate and rattle from the bass when only on 15% of the full volume.

When dealing with sound quality, I've found that depending how the music or movie was recorded seriously changes the output of these speakers. There just doesn't seem to be a consistant 1 setting variable that works well with every type of output. This makes me think of high-end stereo equipment such as Macintosh or Carver. At first sight, you would only notice two or three knobs, buttons or something of the sort but it produces the finest quality sound you can get on the market. I guess what I'm saying here is that more options doesn't always make it an improvement and what these speakers need is a better balance of highs and lows.

If you are thinking of buying these speakers for only music, if you love Dance, Hiphop of other genre like it , these speakers are for you! . If you listen to classical, jazz or get annoyed at imperfections in sounds reproduction, you may want to consider getting the Altec Lansing 5100's (fantastic crisp and bright sound for audiophiles). Then if your a metalhead like myself (although I do listen to almost any style of music) you'll find every album is...on output.

Happy Speaker Hunting.

Review: 400 Watts! Under 200 bucks! Doesnt get any better then that. If u have the money to waste an extra hundered for the klipsche 4.1 go for it, but u dont get much more. Super powerful bass and excellent clear sound from sattelites. Dont even look for a better value.

Summary: Awesome sound...low price
Review: If you've got the space for a large subwoofer and four tweeters, and LOVE loud music, get these speakers. The sound is unbelievable. The bass can shake your dorm/house and really makes you feel it. And, they're not expensive! I really don't know how Logitech can make any money on these puppies.

I mostly listen to rock/techno and these speakers can handle anything I throw it's way. Haven't had them fail yet--knock on wood--but I suspect that they blow when people continually crack it louder and louder until distortion makes em blow. So if you hear the woofer having a hard time, turn the bass down a little! I find quarter volume good for regular listening. Half volume is LOUD. Almost full volume--the entire floor of the dorm I live on can feel the bass. I am not joking!

High's are high, lows are LOW. The M3D sounds great, I leave it on almost always since I only have a two channel sound card. Quality is superb on the speakers--just look at each sattelite. They look and feel like extremely high quality speakers. The woofer is massive, and get can warm. The control panel is low quality plastic and knobs, but looks pretty with them blue and green lights. Go easy on it.

Get these speakers...and tip the mail delivery person...they're heavy ;-)

Summary: Tweeters are awesome, dissapointed to say system failed.
Review: Hi,
I purchased my Logitech z-560 in June of 2002. They were AWESOME. About 2 weeks after they arrived in July, I had to send them back due to failure. Tweeters worked, but subwoofer didn't. I just had to cut power wire off of sub, and volume controls, and send it back. 4 weeks later, another new system came. It was great up until December, when the left speaker output jacks went out. I plugged both into right, soon after that failed also. So eventually, I ended up plugging tweeters into another stereo, and running a different line to sub, just so I could have some bass. 3/23, subwoofer stopped working. I'm going to take it apart, and try and salvage the subwoofer itself, but it is not easy to repair these things if they break, they make sure of that. Anyway, If you want a system thats going to last longer, I reccomend you go custom. Buy a reciever with some sattelite tweeter speakers, and run another line to a amplifier powering a sub, thats how I'm doing it now. BECAREFUL, only 90 day warranty.
