Summary: Best sound from such a small package
Review: I aint gonna lie about it, I am very hard to please especially when it comes to the sound of stereo equipment. You might say I am anal, but anyways..... I got these speakers at a bargin and could not believe the sound that comes out of them. They sound as good as anything I have ever heard and they look sharp as a tack too. Only thing I don't like is that they are easy to turn over. Oh well, they are pretty easy to sit back upright too, lol. I have never heard a computer speaker that sounded anywhere near as nice and hard pressed to find a home speaker that sounds as good. I can't imagine how someone can rag them.

Summary: Excellent sound, nice but troublesome sattelite design
Review: I got a set of refubished H/K 2.1 Champagne speakers for $ 25-30 and, at this price, they're an excellent bargain. For the full price of 60-70 $, you might want to also test other brand-name speakers (if yo have the chance). In any case, the sound is crisp and clear, and the subwoofer can have a nice kick, even when it's not at full volume. Also, it does not have the disturbing bzzzz sound that other subwoofers, even brand names, can have when they're putting out loud beats.
The only problem is that the sattellites, despite their nice design (or, rather, exactly because of that) can tip over quite easily (I move things around the desk, cables get tangled, and down they go). It's also good that the sound control is not on the subwoofer, as with other speakers, but on one of teh satellites.
Bottom line, even for the full price for the new speakers, they sound like a good choice.

Summary: Like jazz, and have a budget?
Review: I just picked up these speakers on a whim from a discount PC/electronics store in Silicon Valley today. For my $28 bucks, I am very, very impressed. I am listening on my PC, as I type, to 91.1 KCSM, a jazz station in the San Francisco Bay Area.

Clear, crisp, and definite quality performance of the subwoofer, and even better from the "champagne glass" satellites.

I went into the store just to pick up a pair of "cheapie" speakers for an extra PC we have. I have a 6 year old Harman/Kardon receiver I revere, and decided to go with the Harman/Kardon name when I saw the inexpensive price.

Good decision.

I've read the other reviews, and they are accurate. For me, I do not play games, and I am not a "power" music listener. But for my needs...... crisp, clear and rich definition.....these Harman/Kardon speakers are tremendous.

I can't believe I got'em for $27.99!

If not available for that in your area, I would CERTAINLY pay into the mid-$30 range that I have seen elsewhere on the internet. Because, even then, no one who hears them will believe you got them for that price.

This jazz is sounding so good, I almost hate to turn it off and go to bed!

Summary: Computer Sound Speaker System
Review: I ordered this speaker system with my new Dell Computer. I have not been pleased with this speaker system. After about 6 months it developed an echo. So now whatever computer sounds that I listen to are produced with an annoying echo.

Review: I picked up this incredible deal to be used as a sound system for an ipod. I'm amazed at how great it sounds! I just ordered a second one for our home computer. The base is excellent, but if your looking to rattle the walls move on. this isn't for you.

Summary: Pretty good sound for such small speakers, w/some quibbles
Review: This is a decent speaker system that won't take up much room on your desk. The satellite speakers can produce remarkably loud (and *clear*) sound for their small size, and the subwoofer produces good bass (albeit a little less intense then the one in my last speaker system).

The "surround" enhancement feature gives a perception of depth to even stereo sound, sometimes just in front of the speakers, sometimes on either side of the head. (Supposedly you can also plug this into a sound card with four-channel output, and the satellites project an "audio hologram" of the rear channels, but I don't have one to test it on.) I have, however, found that such enhancement de-emphasizes the center, sometimes making e.g. lyrics and dialog difficult to make out, so use it with discretion. Also, heed the manual and place the satellites at least as far apart from each other as your head is from the line between them, while you use the surround feature, or you may lose stereo separation. Probably related to this, mid-/upper-range sounds are rather directional: sound is somewhat clearer directly in front of the speakers, as opposed to, say, 10 degrees above them; which, despite their slight backward tilt, still renders optimal listening in my setup from a severe slouch. Oh well, it's minor quibble, really; they still sound pretty good.

There is also the odd volume control: a pair of buttons on the right satellite, nearly impossible to spot if you don't know they're there. I would prefer being able to see what the current volume level is. Plus, the maximum level won't exactly shake the house.

The speakers are stylish, but not extreme (compare some of the weirder-looking speakers being made); the LEDs are a nice touch, and presumably also confirm the satellites are functioning.
