Summary: AMAZING!!!!
Review:
These speakers are incredible! They are a breeze to set up and control, the sound quality is outstanding, and the bass and treble controls have a wide range. Plus, they look really cool. Definitely a good purchase to make.

Summary: Creature Speaker feature... Va Va Voom
Review: External speakers do not come any cooler than these! The looks are simply terrific. No one ever fails to notice them and the green glowing lights. And it is not just the looks, the sound will rock you. I got these for my teenager. They are easy to plug into the computer or CD player or iPod. The Creatures will pump out enough volume to rattle my cage when I am in another room. The quality of the sound is also very good. The bass subwoofer generates a solid, deep bass thump to accompany the bright, clear sounding speakers. The placement of the speakers is not critical.

You might compare these to the Harmon/Kardon Sound Sticks. I use the Soundsticks at my own computer and they have a very different sound. The difference to me is in the mid range sounds and spatial imaging. But you pay almost twice as much to get that, Soundsticks are fussy about placement and they do not sound as good when played at the highest volumes that the Creatures can reach. The current price makes the Creatures an excellent bargain.

Summary: Wonderful Speakers
Review: For the price i think these speakers offer a chic and interesting quality, the sound quality isnt anything godly but its very good, the touch system is interesting and easy, although a little gimmick-y.

i did have very little trouble setting it up, i had to turn it off and on a few times to get the left and right speakers working but other than that ive experienced no problems.

a good buy for a fair price, i reccomend it to anyone.

Summary: Perfect eMac Accessory
Review: I am very pleased with my purchase. The sound quality is perfect. The sound fills the entire room--and occasionally the rest of the house. They compliment the eMac design very well.

Initially, I had a problem similar to the person who ranked the speakers with one star and then I realized that I hadn't plugged the speakers in completely.

Summary: Excellent for the iPod!
Review: I bought the Creature speakers to use with my iPod in the office at work. I am very pleased.

Sound quality is very, very good. I find the bass very balanced, not overwhelming as some PC users have reported here. Perhaps that is because I am driving them with the iPod. A big plus for office use is they can be turned down quite low and still provide good sound. And they have decent steps between volume levels. Many digital volume controls have large jumps between levels, but these are pretty good in that regard.

The design is certainly very cool, and the footprint is okay (less than one sqft) if you have room for the sub (sits nicely behind my monitor). The satellites are tiny and fit under my monitor easily.

I did have one problem where the volume control stopped working 15 minutes after installation. That was disconcerting, but was quickly solved by disconnecting and reconnecting the right channel lead, and has not recurred. A knob would be more functionally correct, but this is a design thing and it is cool. The system provides slight clicks to let you know the volume is changing, and you can mute by touching both together.

I rated four stars, down from five only because of the volume adjustment losing its brain. Since another reviewer reported the same problem, this appears to be a design flaw. Other than that, these are perfect for use in the office with the iPod!

Summary: Awesome speakers at an awesome price!
Review: I bought these speakers for my 15-year-old son because he wanted some external speakers for his eMac. I have always loved JBL speakers, and these were too neat to pass up...especially at the bargain price. The design of the speakers is very futuristic and cool (or, as my son would say...SWEET!). The color and design compliment the eMac perfectly. Each of the satellite speakers has a green LED on the bottom of it that lights up when they're on...very cool in a darkened room. Best of all, the sound of these speakers is fabulous. They may not be the world's loudest speakers. But the sound is beautiful, whether you're listening to the Red Hot Chili Peppers or Thelonious Monk (which my kid actually does). The subwoofer has easy access bass and treble controls right on the front of it, and the footprint isn't very big (which is great, because this is one subwoofer you won't want to hide on the floor...you'll want it right on your desktop). The right satellite has cool touch sensitive volume controls. And the construction is top-notch. I recently saw these speakers "on sale" in the Marshall Field's weekly flier for $99.99. I took great pleasure in knowing that I only paid $66.49 at Amazon and got them shipped to me for free. You can't beat that deal with a stick! Oh...one more cool thing. My son also has an iPod and these speakers can be hooked up to an iPod (or any external music playing device with a headphone jack) simply by plugging them into the headphone jack. So, not only are these cool computer speakers...but if you have an iPod or portable CD player and don't want to splurge on a stereo for a bedroom, you can just buy these, plug in your music source, and...Voila! Instant stereo system!! I highly recommend these speakers. I'm pretty fussy when it comes to sound equipment, and these pass my test with flying colors.

Summary: No Volume Control
Review: I bought these speakers for my office to plug into my JVC Sirius sattellite radio, which comes with a line-level output. I didn't realize these self powered speakers didn't have volume control, therefore, the music is only at a single, line-level volume. These speakers are made to plug into a head phone / adjustable volume jack.

So, what I do now, is run a "line in" into my computer, then hook these speakers up to the speakers out. No biggy. They sound good.

Summary: Not Very Good Sound
Review: I bought these to plug into my iPod basestation. I was replacing some old Altec Lansing ACS33 Power Cube computer speakers, which I paid $20 for. For the price I paid, I was expecting to be blown away by the sound of these speakers, as compared to the old ones. I was less than impressed. There is no mid range!!! The problem is that the high end comes out of the two satellite speakers, and the mid(what little there is) and low comes from the subwoofer. So what happens is the subwoofer gets overpowered by the two satellite speakers, it gives the sound a nice AM radio quality. This problem gets even worse if you put the subwoofer on the floor and use the two satelite speakers on your desk. I expected to be able to fix the problem by adjusting the knobs, that was of no help at all. Even with the treble turned all the way down and bass turned all the way it, the high end overpowers everything else.

Sure these speakers look cool, but that's not why most people buy speakers. I'm not sure what to recommend for you to use, but I would say avoid this.

Summary: Great Speakers!
Review: I do not see how you can beat these speakers for the price here at amazon.com. The sound is great at all freq's and the lows are mellow and sound very good. One very nice feature is the volume control being handy on the right speaker and it gives very even level adjustment. None of the digital jumping on the volume control as with some speakers. I love the way they look and they go perfectly with my new G5 iMac. Hooking them up could not be easier and they have good quality connectors and cables. Go for these puppies I think you will be very happy with them.

Summary: GREAT SPEAKERS
Review: i just got these speakers from Amazon yesterday. Setting them up was a snap and the controls are easy to use. Getting the best sound is easy, usually just a twist of a knob, and the volume control blow knobs awway
