Summary: Absolutely Excellent
Review: After researching for a while which 3 piece speaker system to get for my PC I chose the BA790's. For the price, they are unbeatable, comparable to other systems selling for twice the price. Very clean and natural sound, and the subwoofer is very capable. Two rather small criticisms....1)no treble control (only bass for the subwoofer) and 2)They could use a little more power, but that is only for those who enjoy really cranking their speakers.

Summary: These Speakers Rock!!!
Review: I bought these speakers for my husband for Fathers Day. I was really surprised how powerful this system is. The clarity is awsome. I highly recommend these speakers to any one interested in purchasing computer speakers.

Summary: Boston.. always surprises me.
Review: I own a set of this BA790 and also BA4800. The thing that I really like about Boston-acoustics is that they sound so natural with every music. The bass level is natural and the sound that is being produced from little sattellites are crisp and natural. Both of the speakers provide matching in both treble and bass. Although BA790 lacks of more power output due to it's size, but when you listen to music.. it's not about how loud it is.. it's about "Quality".

Summary: Not the best, better than the worst
Review: I've had these speakers for 2 years and have been pretty happy with them. Definately the best computer speakers I've used (until a few weeks ago), although I've only had the cruddy ones most PC's come with.

My set didn't have a headphone jack, a big downfall, but I think that recent editions do, so it shouldn't be a big deal.

They also are NOT equivalent to a home stereo, as some people on here claim. The sound quality at ear splitting volume levels is not nearly as good as a good home stereo, and the bass tends to get muddy at high continuous levels, BUT you don't normally turn your computer up that loud since you sit in front of it.

A few weeks ago, I got a new PC and it came with BA7800 (not on Amazon yet). These have 4 sat. spkrs and a huge 8 in. woofer. Amazing sound comes out of these, even using just the two front speakers and the woofer you get a better "full" sound and projection with these.

The verdict: great speakers for the price, but don't expect to DJ a party with them. Should be more than enough for not-too-picky audiophiles. Make sure your sound card supports the digital output if you have an older PC!!

Summary: Kapow!! I never thought my 'puter'd be my home stereo
Review: I've owned computers for years but have just recently gotten interested in them as musical devices. I just bought my first three piece speaker set a few months ago ( a cheap Altech300 set)and decided that I'd like something "good" for my new system.

Speaking as someone who bought his first stereo system with a school loan in the 70's I'm just amazed at the sound quality these speakers produce for well under $100. As for the volume and control complaints that a few people mentioned it is true that my son's electric guitar amp is louder. Of ocurse it's three feet tall. And there are very few controls on the speakers themselves which is just fine since every software program that plays music has an equalizer, balance control and such in it. I really don't need to set volume or balance six different ways.

I'm sure there are better speakers out there but with these you are well into the land of diminishing returns. By that I mean you'd need to spend a LOT to improve quality much at all. Get 'em, listen to 'em and see.

Summary: Best 3 Piece System For PC
Review: Previously I owned the BA735's that came with my Gateway, they absolutely rocked, I thought I would never find a better 3 piece system. Now after building a new PC I thought I would try out the BA790's..Wow was I surprised. If your looking for the best 3 piece system, look no further. I have listened to systems from company's like Monsoon, Altec Lansing, Cambridge and Harmon Kardon just to name a few. But none come close to matching the crispness, clarity and booming low's of this system. For now, it is absolutely the best sounding 3 piece system out there..

Summary: Boston quality for under ...
Review: The folks at Boston Acoustics definitely know how to make a great multimedia speaker series for the person who wants quality at an affordable price. I picked up the BA790 series at a local [store] and paid around $.... The reason I bought these is I am a Boston Acoustics loyalist for more than 10 years. Just about every product they make from car to home speakers (both of which I own) has never been less than perfect for the money. Not to say that Boston Acoustics are cheap, this is a courtesy reminder of "you pay for what you get". The BA 790 series proves true that you can buy a small compact multimedia speaker system and still have $$$ leftover to purchase video games and CD's in which to enjoy all day long on these great pair of speakers.
