Summary: Power Sound!!!!!
Review: I have been a music lover for over three decades and have spent thousands over the years for high end systems. I purchased the Yamaha system... I didn't expect too much at first, but I hooked the system up to various "output devices" i.e. sound cards, cd players, etc. to get a feel of the capacity. - I was
really blown away by the quality of the sound. I set the Yamahas atop my expensive high end speakers and envited a freind over to listen to some Jazz. The guy thought the sound was coming from the tower speakers until I pointed it out. The speakers pack a real punch... Note: I found the sound does vary dramatically based upon the type of output device you have. A real cheesy sound card won't do these speakers justice.

Summary: worth every penny, and more
Review: I have been using these speakers, on my computer for more than two years. They sound great! I got them when they first were on the market, for the same price AMAZON is charging now. YAMAHA is tops in audio equipment, and even though these speakers are still going strong, I am looking to upgrade to the YAMAHA 35-watt set, which is being sold at a terrific discount price. NEVER give up the subwoofer, it makes all the difference!

Summary: totally ok
Review: I have had these for a while, and they sound just ok. The bass can be turned up so that it can shake the floor or you can turn it totally down. The speakers don't exactly distort at high levels, they just sound weird and the subwoofer get's messed up. I eventually got a program to manage each speakers volume level, so I turned the volume all the way up then turned all the other speakers off except the subwoofer. That's the part they try to hide, you can't hear it while the other speakers are running, but the subwoofer sounds like there's a peice of loose plastic inside, but for the price these are great speakers

Summary: I didn't expect it to be THIS good
Review: I just received these today. I must say that I was just looking to get something relatively inexpensive that sounded pretty good, nothing crazy. But....these sound REALLY good. Got em' for the office, but now i think i am going to get another set for my home - yes, they sound THAT good, and the price you just cannot beat it. The bass woofer really kicks ...!!!

Summary: Very good sound for that price...
Review: I purchased it at a local store just for the brand. I've never read a review nor heard a word about that speakers. But I got surprised about how good it sounds.
Well balanced, nice highs and good bass considering the relatively small subwofer dimension. A little weak in medium range, but it makes no harm to general sonic performance.

Review: I recently purchased the Yamaha's YST-MS201 speaker set for a secondary computer. At the same time, I bought some more expensive JBL's. Guess what? The JBL's sound better. And yet I heartily recommend the Yamahas. The reason is value. For under $40 the Yamahas give you very good sound. Not "superior" sound. Not sound for an audio-snob. But very good sound nonetheless.

I still have the JBL's on my primary computer, but when I finish this review, the next thing I'll do is order another set of Yamaha's YST-MS201's for my brother.

Summary: Awesome Sound!
Review: I saw reviews #10 & #11, and I can't believe they're talking about the same speakers, or maybe they have a defective set. These speakers easily stand up to the Altec Lansing ones that I was comparing them to when shopping around. I don't listen to alot of music on my computer, but I thought I'd throw in a CD and see what it sounded like... wow! The bass was incredible. I was really surprised. I've always known Yamaha to be a good quality name brand. And the slim design of the satellite speakers is great if you're cramped for space on your desk. The main volume know on the front is very convenient, compared to the cheap push button ones I had before. I don't care about the bass volume knob being located on the back of the subwoofer... how often do you change the bass level anyways? The only negative thing I have to say about these speakers, is that contrary to the technical stats posted here on Amazon, this system does NOT have a headphone plug-in. But I've actually found that the speakers have a rich, full sound even at minimal listening levels, so I can do without the headphones at night. Overall these speakers rock! I can't say enough good about them.

Summary: Great Speakers
Review: I spent a long time attempting to find a good pair of speakers. Being a college student, unable to go to the store, I had to rely on reviews for speakers on amazon.com. I found that there were many great reviews for these speakers, yet was still somewhat iffy about purchasing them. Then, I took the plunge... and am happy for it. These speakers put out lots of clear sound, comparable to a very expensive set of speakers. But not. They're a good price for a great set of speakers. I enjoy watching movies on my computer now, with the lovely subwoofer and cute little speakers. I'm glad I bought these high-quality speakers.
