Rating: Summary: Overrated Review: Based on the rave reviews and Yamaha's reputation I decided to purchase these speakers. After listening to them I can say that the sound quality reminds me of cheap computer speaker that come free when you buy a computer system. The subwoofer does sound as good as other reviewers have mentioned but that's the only good thing I can say. The satellites produce sounds come out muffled and weak. I bought these thinking I was upgrading from my 2 piece Advent AV180 speakers. I was wrong. The Advents have a clearer sound coming out of it that sound similar to speakers from a home stereo system. The Yamahas satellites are 6 watts while the Advents are 7.5 watts. So the power is similar but the sound quality of the Advent speakers are sooo much better. Yamaha usually has excellent sound systems, this is NOT one of them. If you're thinking "but there are so many good reviews", then you better think twice.
Rating: Summary: Decent Review: Good sound for the price. Setup is not as feature rich as other Yamaha 3-piece speaker sets: no on/off button - you turn the dial to do that, and bass adjustment is on the subwoofer which can be awkward to get to. Connector for right satellite is proprietary (like keyboard ps/2 style), so it doesn't work well with another pair of satellites, but that's true for almost any manufacturer nowadays. On the other hand, satellites are small and easy to tuck away and the volume dial is very large which makes volume adjustments easy. A good buy for a family member who doesn't care about sound so much, but likes to crank it up once in awhile for music or a game.
Rating: Summary: An impressive sound for not much money Review: Got these for Christmas this year from my brother. I used 'em first with a portable MP3 player which doesn't put out that much power and they still sounded really good. I just got them home and set them up with my desktop computer and WOW am I impressed. Nice thumpy bass, nice crisp vocals, and perfect size for desktop use. So I decided to look 'em up on Amazon to see how much he spent on me. Heeyyyy.... was he ever a cheapskate! Flaws: previous reviewers have noted the lack of a headphone jack and the weird placement of the bass knob on the back of the subwoofer. I'd also like the cord between the subwoofer and PC to be longer to allow more flexibility in placement. But wow, when I think of the ... little tinny 2-speaker sets you can get for this money...
Rating: Summary: Great Value, Very Good Sound Review: I am a college student who did not want to haul the whole stereo system to school, so I purchased these Yamaha speakers to complement my computer (since I transfered all my music to my computer). I am very satisfied with the clarity and bass. I even watch DVDs on my computer instead of from the television because the sound quality from these speakers enhances the movie. The appearance of the speakers is very pleasing.
Rating: Summary: packs powerful punch Review: I am a music lover, so the sound has got to be right. These speakers deliver a great sound. Not only do they sound good, they look good and fit in a minimal amount of space. The large volumne dial is ideally located for easy reach. I've tried other speakers, and nothing compares to the sound quality that these Yamaha's deliver. Especially noticeable is the difference in the sound quality when listening to music directly off the internet through these Yamaha's. This product is definitely rated five stars.....I'd give it more, if I could!
Rating: Summary: Low quality speakers Review: I am not a music fan.It was the name of Yamaha made me buy this set. I didn't have a bass speaker before,so I could not compare it.But the other 2 small speaker just sound terrible--even inferior to my $4 no-name speakers. Stupid as I was that I already cut the UPC code off for the rebate before I connected them to my PC. So I have to keep them. But any potential buyers should be careful even though the price looks cheap.
Rating: Summary: Works great with PowerMacs Review: I am using a set of these speakers with both a PowerMac G3 and G4 and they work great! For the quality at this price, it's a fantastic product.
Rating: Summary: not as good as I'd hoped.... Review: I guess I let my expectations of these speakers race ahead of my pocketbook. Yes, they are clear and crisp in the higher range, and yes, the bass is nice and you can get it thumping... but the treble seems tinny and the midrange just plain missing! They lack the depth and "soul" I was hoping for. My old ... Labtecs weren't all that bad... !

Rating: Summary: Awesome Speakers at a Budget Price :) Review: I have been a Guru if you will for most of my life when it comes to sound and music. I have been told as well that I have a musical ear, especially when I play the piano. I simply can not say enough good things about this speaker system. As many of you know, over the years the computer market has been flooded with every Tom, Dick ,and Harry who has recently jumped on the computer revolution bandwagon. I have known Yamaha to be a leader in the industry when it comes to the Audio industry, long before the home computer was on the scene. This system is simply another triumph for the Yamaha team. The controls are relatively easy to use. The design is flawless, except for the placement of the bass control. The sound quality is breathtaking. Clear, accurate and deep all at the same time. These speakers are the best kept secret in the industry. I put these little jewels up against systems costing 5 times as much. Any Questions, fell free to email me at ...
