Summary: They sound like [more expensive] speakers!
Review: I picked these up when I needed something to use with a temporary computer workstation for a project with a tight deadline. I didn't want to spend much, and I needed to be able to find whatever I was going to buy at 9PM, which in my town means [local department store]. In other words, I didn't really have much of a choice.

When the deadline was past I moved them over to my workstation, because I just love the way they sound. I've used much more expensive powered speakers, but these have all the right features and solid sound. I use them with my computer, a video deck and an MP3 player, all with happy results.

Summary: Good sound but they don't turn off!
Review: I plugged them in and listened to hours of music. They sound great. then I shut down my computer and hit the on/off switch on the speakers but they didn't turn off. The volume turned off but there was still that white sound (hissing) coming from the speakers. I returned them thinking they were faulty but the same thing happened to the second set. It's a design flaw. You plug the wall adapter into the subwoofer and you immediately hear hissing out of it and you haven't even plugged in the speaker with the on/off switch on it yet! I emailed the company and they said someone would contact me but I'm still waiting. If you live in a noisy environment these speakers will be fine. But if your room is quiet at night you'll hear the "hiss" coming from them when they're turned off.

Summary: Sound Systems Watch Out
Review: I receive the Altec Lansing AVS300 as a Christmas gift. I plug it in and WOW. I thought it must have cost at least a hundred dollars. Because that's the way the speakers sounded. But to my surprise after looking them up on the internet. A cost of only 39.95 retail. If you need sound and you're not a professional buy these speakers and you won't be sorry.

Summary: A well priced high quality set of speakers
Review: I recently purchased the AVS500 set of speakers. I have been well pleased with them. Their design is not all that attractive, but their sound quality more than makes up for it. A great set of high quality speakers, for a small amount of money--You can't go wrong!

Summary: Very Nice!! What a steal!!
Review: I was shocked at the quality and price on these avs 200 speakers. I needed something for work without a subwoofer for listening to cd's and launchcast on Yahoo. These are perfect... Although it could use some more bass, I am thrilled with them. They are pretty powerful. It is perfect for work since I don't want a kick ... system since I should be working. I have a nice Altec Lansing 3 piece system at home. I will always buy their products even over Sony. Altec comes through once again.

Summary: Remarkable Sats and Sub
Review: No complaints here. Have had these for a few months and I am always amazed at how good they sound for their size and price (especially when playing regular 16 bit stereo cds). Sometimes I often forget that they are just simple sats and sub and I think I'm listening to a mid-priced portable table top bedroom or home stereo shelf unit. Albeit these speakers are not for those seeking the ultimate in audiophile perfection. However, you got to remember your using this for a computer set up and not for a full blown hdtv widescreen movie extravaganza in 5.1 or6.1 or 10.1 (you get the picture without any pun)! Altec Lansing so far has me sold on these. Now, they've only wet my aural appetite to see (or hear) what their higher priced and more elaborate set ups are like...

Summary: great for the price, but watch out!
Review: Not full range, but rich in the range it has, this system is damn good for the money. My only advice is to watch out, as one short tumble of the right speaker killed my whole system. since i got it for 40 bucks and used it a year, it's okay, but wanna warn others. Also, beware of 5 piece gaming system by AL in same price range, horrible!! couldn't believe it was the same manufacuterer. REPEAT this product good buy but fragile, 5 piece system in this price range sucks.

Summary: Shot in less than six months
Review: OK, these are cheap good sounding speakers.
But less than six months into my purchase, one of the speakers has a short.
So, it's a total loss.
Be careful -- you get what you pay for.

Summary: Good choice for multipurpose and the price
Review: Really very nice choice, thanks to other review I selected this set and it sounds great. Listen to music or to radio, computer (same color as my screen and printer and scanner),... On/off button looks like a moon but volume control is nicer.
Also the wires are long enough. Only thing is the transformer without wire on the wall plug side, therefore cannot be plugged into a power ramp.
I think about buying a second one for the bedroom.

Summary: i've got it and this is it...
Review: So:
1 point+ for design
1 point- for "no headphones jack" :)
1 point- for subwoofer volume (it could be placed anywhere else but not on the subwoofer - if you name that a woofwer- i mean it is too far ... but some moovments improove your body structure:))
And finally the sound....you see a...a...a...desktop speakers low price bla bla not for living-room that is sure Thanks
