Summary: Should be 5 stars!
Review: I haven't the slightest idea why my review didn't show 5 stars, however, I definately give it a worthwhile 5 star rating. I am enjoying every bit of sound coming from this speaker system. Please go out and support Altec Lansing by purchasing these speakers.

Summary: Awesome Speakers, even more awesome price
Review: I purchased these speakers for $40, and they are worth every penny. I hooked them up to my philips dvd726 (dvd player). I have mono sound on my TV and wanted speakers so I could utilize the mp3 playback feature on my dvd player, as well as stereo sound with my dvds, vcds, svcds. I hooked these up in 15 minutes. The only con is the wired remote, I'd much rather have a regular remote, but luckily this is in my bedroom so it doesnt really matter. The sound will blow you away. You can adjust the bass (on the sub), and pick the sound mode on the remote. I didn't really need 5.1 surround sound...2.1 is great for me. My movies sound so different, I never knew I was missing so much with a mono TV, but I really was.

I really really like the headphone hook-ups in the remote for private listening. There are two so that you and a friend can enjoy this feature. The sound is rich and full, and believe me I'm picky too. I have Boston Acoustic Speakers with a subwoofer hooked up to my PC, so I'm used to decent audio speakers. The style of these is funky, which I like! They look like old radios and the sub is sort of like a rocket. This may not appeal to the older set--but I'm a college student and I think most kids and young people will find the design pretty nifty. Plus the silver/black theme matches my other electronics.

*One thing that may bother people is there is a very faint static noise when the speakers aren't in use, but on and turned up to a certain volume. This seems insignificant to me because I only have them turned on when they are being used.

Buy these speakers and you won't be let down. They simply rock. For a small price you get big sound. I was skeptical, but it's true.

Summary: Aletec Lansing XA3021
Review: I purchased these speakers to accompany my DVD/TV setup - and was totally impressed with the sound quality. Crystal clear sound quality - plus absolute wicked bass! Prepare to be blasted away when you turn on the subwoofer - wow, the sound is incredible! I can't believe I paid under $50 for these speakers!

I now use them to plug my ipod into - the sound is amazing! While the design of the speakers is unique - they compliment any high tech setup. the only small qualm I have with the speakers is that it would be better if the remote control was actually 'remote' and not attached to the speakers by a cord. I know - it's lazy of me - but we live in a lazy world!

Overall, you can't beat the price - the speakers are worth at least 3 times what they are being sold for, it's a steal!

Summary: Great quality for an inexpensive product
Review: I rarely write reviews, but for the XA3021 I have to login and put a few lines. For $20, this is the best buy ever for me. Incredibly clear response on all frequencies, strong bass and hiss-free. You can't go wrong with this one, unless you can't find a place to put the odd-looking speaker pieces. I wish they chose a more modern design.

Summary: Blissful bang for the buck!
Review: I suffered for quite some time with the shrill crackling sound of old factory speakers. I had given up on a quick fix. Once I had seen the box of the XA3021 I decided why not. Thank God!
For [the price]it was money well spent. I've had no problems with whatever style of media I play through them. Excellent range of sound, high and rumbling low two thumbs up.

Summary: Nice sound, nice price
Review: I use these speakers exclusively to play CDs and MP3s through my computer in my room. And, for this purpose, these speakers are stellar. If you turn it all the way up, the bass is really strong (and overpowering). The range on the small speakers is good and the sound is crisp making relatively low-quality files sound great. I recommend these speakers wholeheartedly.

Summary: Excellent
Review: I use these speakers with my DVD player, and use it as a cheap home entertainment system. These speakers have excellent sound and deep bass. I always wanted to buy an expensive home entertainment system, but with these speakers I dont need anything more. These speakers blow away the speakers on my TV, and I can use my DVD player to listen to CD's and MP3's without turning the TV on.

Summary: Works for Me
Review: I'm no audiophile, but I wanted better sound out of my computer so I got these. The classic microphone look of the speakers is what really drew me in. The bass is great. There are 3 settings for the bass, so it's convenient for adjusting depending on what you're listening to. As for connecting to the computer itself, all you need to buy is a .55M cord (around $5) and you can get it going. My biggest complaint is general background noise when they're on and no sound is being played, but it can be remedied by turning the volume down. Audiophiles might have issues with that though.

Summary: a good deal
Review: I've heard many complaints about the design of these speakers, but for the price they deliver good sound. The bass is strong and hooking the speakers up is pretty simple. Keep in mind that these speakers are designed primarily for college/high school gamers and movie buffs who don't have much living space or just can't afford a high end system; if you're looking for a serious speaker set up this isn't really for you. But, if you find yourself in one of the above categories, or if you just want to improve the sound on your tv, you definitely get you money's worth.
